Digital MP4 Player Dead...I've never tried to change firmwar

I bought off ebay this digital mp4 player from china three months ago. Last week, the battery went low and the player closed by itself, and it's dead since then. It has nothing to do with the firmware, I've never tried to upgrade it. And it's not dead because broken, I dont remember dropping it. What the h*** happened?

Here's my player:

So I put the player in Adfu mode, by shorting the chip. It's been recognized then Windows installed the drivers. I run the update tool:

I guess this is what's supposed to happen? Yeah.

When I chose this full firmware and an old updater (3.06)... (it won't do it with any other firmware or updater version)...

Then if I try to recover my player with that very firmware, I get the error message : "Read or write device information failed! Please exit the program and check if device is connecting!" Or if I try with the others I get "Flash is no responding!"

Then the blue screen disappears.
Has anyone ever experienced this?

Jesper, Sounds like a hardware issue rather than firmware. If your player is not being put into recovery mode when you short the chip then I doubt it is recoverable. There is a tiny CMOS battery on the board that may be dead but I do not know how you would go about replacing it. You could try a mobile phone repair outlet, but board repairs are pretty rare these days most technicians just swap out boards rather than try to repair.

But when I run the Mp3 upgrade tool, it detects it and say "Now is recovery state.....". Now I choose the firmware, and it says "Flash is no responding!" Is there anything to do?

I tried to upgrade with an older updater and when I select this very firmware : "3.5.37v2.1b" I get a blue screen! It works only with this firmware. Sadly, the upgrade just won't work and the blue screen will disappear. Is there anything to do ?

Hi Jesper
Have you tried using the 3.68 upgrade tool and 3.3.35 firmware ,I have had great success with 3.68.
Is it being detected as a USB drive?
try switching it off switch back on and then connect to the computer then run the upgrade tool
Cheers
