Player restarting with hour glass

My MP4 player works fine 3.5.37.

I copied several MP3 / AMV / WAV all is working fine.

Recently after 15 days when I tried to copy new MP3 songs. I observe that only the First copied song plays and when trying to play the 2nd copied song the player resets with Hourglass.

All old files are playing fine (Video & audio). Any new file I copy to any of the existing or to a newly created folder resets the Player.

Any clue. I cannot copy any new MP3 to play.

I am new on this board and new to clones as well, but from what I've learned so far, it seems that your player memory is full and cannot accept any more files on it until you delete some of the old ones first.
I should also mention that I've read that a lot of suppliers have overstated the capacity of the clones via a software trick. They can misrepresent 512MB player to look like a 2 GB clone...until you try to add more than 512MB of data to it, when it will then reset. Hope you don't have a player like this.
One way to know for sure if yours is like this is to reformat the clone with Windows and see what the total size is afterwards.

My MP4 worked fine as well for over a month, but just a few days ago, it developed... a serious problem.

My MP4 doesn't turn on anymore, the on switch no longer works, and holding down the 'play' button doesn't bring it out of sleep mode.

However, when I connect it by USB to my computer, it seems to work fine, although at every startup, it displays the hourglass screen. Once I disconnect the player from the computer, it immediately turns off and refuses to start up again.

Can anyone help me out here please? I posted here because it seems similar to the above problem.

jokeslayer, since your computer is able to access it fine, it could be that your battery no longer holds its charge anymore.

The hourglass only appears when you connect to the computer only when the battery is totally flat (from what i've observed when my player battery is total flat).

So probably you will need to find a replacement for the battery. The manufacturer's battery are a total crap.

jokeslayer, I agree with "lattesurf" either the battery or the charge control chip may have failed. Most of these players have Lithium Polymer batteries which are not very easy to find in everyday stores. I have seen them sold online for use with remote control model planes etc. as they have a great power to weight ratio.

i've been looking around for my player 1.5" nano clone battery which had a dimension of 42x22x3.5mm, and pretty much that's all the space i have, the rest is all occupied by the board. The only battery that i could find is the ipod shuffle's battery which had similar dimensions. But the rating was about 250mAh, not sure if the battery life would be longer than the current 3-4hrs.

You need to open your player and physically measure the maximum allowable space for the battery. Try some hobby shops in your area if they have such batteries with your dimensions. Or try eBay and search for ipod or any mp3 player's replacement batteries and check if their dimensions fits your player.

You need to take note of your current battery's ratings usually it's about 3.7V output, 4.2V charging, the mAh doesn't matter but the higher it is, the longer your battery life. The 3.7V is the important rating to look for, too low your player might not turn on, too high your player might "fry".
