Default pc doesn't detect mp4

hi i recently had a problem with my mp4. when connecting it to the pc it turns on and goes directly to the menu, instead of getting a screen showing it connected to pc. the pc cannot detect it and i cannot add or remove any files from it. do you have any solution please?

bhws8, Try connecting it to a different USB port, one you have not used the player on before if possible. If the driver is corrupt then windows should reinstall it if you try another port. If you have access to another PC see how it responds when connected to that one. I could also be a fault in the USB cord.

Hi there
Thought I will add on to this.

I also have the same problem with my china ipod clone. the model is what was shown in the dead player recovery post.
Player working fine, but the PC cannot detecting it. I have tried in all Win OS 98, XP, 2000, but no avail. I have tried plugging in different ports also.
THE PLAYER IS GETTING CHARGED THROUGH USB WHEN CONNECTED TO PC, but is still not detected :?:

Is the cable faulty? If so why it should charge? I have not tried opening the player.
Please help!

satyrex, There are 5 wires connecting through the USB cable for power and data transfer so depends where the fault is in the cable on the power or data lines. Before opening your player I suggest trying another cable to at least rule out the possiblity.

[SOLVED}

Hi all, cable was indeed the problem. I just open the USB cable and checked the continuity with a multimeter. guess what, soldering had come out from one of the pins. So soldered it back and trala player working fine.

So if u think the cable is problem, just open it. it is not even molded like decent USB cables.

thank all
