[SOLVED] Help with 2gb Nano clone PLEASE

Okay, here's the skinny. Sunday, I tried to update my firmware but, stupidly, I didn't back it up so now, I'm left with a blue/ black screen with green edges (?!?). I've been through the dead player recover, took the player to bits and shorted it. My pc now recognises it, I cn use it as a mass storage device and I can upgrade the firmware via Upgrade tool. Upgrade tool shows the player as being an S1 MP3 player produced by Wilson Co LTD and being 3.5.35. I also have a restore dump in the program file folder but that seems to be next to useless. I've tried shorting the player numerous times but I've now run out of USB ports. I've tried installing the AdufUpdate.inf but that's not helped either. If anyone can help, I'd really really appreciate it as I've spent days now trying to get this sorted and I'm coming to the end of my tether.

By the way, it's a black 2GB 1.5" clone with only one screw under a sticker on the bottom of the back. Maybe it is simply a matter of me not having found the right dump yet, but I've tried pretty well every one I can find.

Re: Help with 2gb Nano clone PLEASE

Just a quick update, I seem to now have the right firmware as when I installed it, and the player restarted, I didn't get the usual 'drive G' pop-up, but it asked me if I wanted to play the files on my player. Following other instructions, I formatted the drive before putting a dump on and now, whenever I plug the player in, I get the 'Drive G' window pop up with nothing on it. I have used s1res to check the dumps and the ones I am trying to install all look EXACTLY like the one I had before I screwed up but I'm still getting the blue/black screen. I can now turn off the player by holding the play button and this will also disconnect the player when connected to the PC. Can anyone shed some light on what it is I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like you still have the wrong FW. The good news is you have one that operates the player as a flash disk. Bad news is it doesn't know how to operate your screen and other hardware.

Should of made a backup and repair of your orginal

Open it up and post the board id and memory type, photos can't hurt either.

I've got two different 1.5 clone samples from two different manufactures in China, both use completely different hardware. From my experience there are probably several hundred different varations.

But I bet we can get yours working if you get more details...

ThePhantom, You are not doing anything wrong, just as you suspected in your first post you have not found the right firmware.

Where exactly can I find the board ID and memory type please? Sorry for the horrible noob questions, but I've got a coupe of piccies if that helps? They're not very high res as they've been taken using my phone...

If it's any help, I have a Samsung 631 K9WAG08UIA PCB0 chip with a ATJ2085w chip and the serial number on the back of the screen is 860918034992. I've also found what I believe could be the board number which is FPC-VP6619-02A_56...

Thanks for the help ;)

Re: Help with 2gb Nano clone PLEASE

I seem to have made a little headway, I've got full firmware on there now which will allow me to turn the player off by keeping the play button pressed and when connected to the PC if I press the menu button (which is located in the center of the controls if that's any help) it switches mode but I'm still getting a black/ blue screen. I have found a dump that gives me a yellow screen with a couple of black bars running through it, but that's the nearest I've come to getting any sort of screen display and the PC still reads it as a flash drive. I've tried most, if not all of the dumps for the 3.5.37 firmware I've got installed. I seem to recall that I did have 3.5.37 before I buggered the player up but I can't be sure...

Just one further update, it appears I can play mp3's on the player now, but the screen is still a blue black. I've got 3.5.37 firmware and can't seem to find a dump.bin that will restore the menu screens etc...

Re: [SOLVED] Help with 2gb Nano clone PLEASE

Dunno how did it, but I seem to have fixed it with this piece of firmware, seems I needed 3.6.35 not 3.5.37... I ain't gonna bugger about with my firmware no more! It might not be to my tastes, but it now works and that's the way it's gonna stay!
