"Read or Write device information failed"
Hi to all! Well, I opened my mp4 player, do all i have to do, it was recognized as Adfu Device by Windows, start the upgrade tool, saw the message "Now is recover state...bla bla bla", but when i click in "Recover Firmware" my player show a blue screen and this message appears: "Read or Write device information failed! Please exit the program and check if device is connecting!", the blue screen turn off. I used the full firmware!
Thanks Sorry about my english!!! |
Re: Error
serp, Does this happen with every full version you try? Also try connecting to a different USB port. Also try the Product tool HERE it is a commercial upgrade tool. If you notice the Erase Flash button become active use it to format your flash before upgrading.
|
with others full firmwares appears the message that is not the correct file! I'll try this program and post the results!

Re: Error
Sorry, but the Erase Flash button is inactive! Any other sugestion?
Ty |
serp, Unfortunatly I am only guessing as I never had this problem when recovering any of my players. :(
|
Re: Error
I only saw the same problem with 2 users of other forum, but they had not gotten success in solving the problem, yet! I read something that says that this problem is caused by the battery, and I would have to detach it and put it again to solve the problem, but I really don't know... :(
Any idea, I accept! Thanks a lot |
serp, I remember reading a post by a member who had the same problem, when it was suggested he try a different computer he only had an old PC running Windows 98 and fixed his player first time.
Regarding the battery you could try disconnecting it and then connecting your player without any power you possibly have nothing to lose by trying. |
Here is the topic of the other member with the same problem (but he did not post the fix):
http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic...ca8ae0e7bfb752 I'll try with other pc! Ty:) |
Re: Error
If it's any consilation, i'm having the same problem. I short the device to load firmware, and now it's giving me the read/write error. (problem after problem with me)
I can't erase flash because it's not highlighted! I'm buying a new computer on tuesday with XP. I think windows 98 may be the reason i'm having all these problems!! I'll let you know how things work out. |
I use win XP here and the problem continuous. I'll try win 98 as our friend tadad1 suggested! ;)

Re: "Read or Write device information failed"
Serp, this MAY help.
Like I stated, I had the same problem as yourself. Upon read/write, the device would deactivate from the system. I brought my player back to life (dead player guide) and left it detected and switched on for about 24hrs. I then used player utilities 1.45 to upgrade the full firware! I no longer had that message, although it could be a complete conincidence, it's worth a shot. I'm still trying to get the proper firmware for my player though. I always seem to get this far, and then it's back to step one again. All the best. |
GDSGFT, Good point you make about leaving it connected for a while. If the battery is flat and the player is drawing power from the usb to run going into safe mode may interupt the power supply and retart the player. Leaving it as you did may have charged the battery.
|
I tried it! :(
The same problem...no fix yet! Ty |
serp, I have uploaded an old version 1.47 of the Upgrade Tool HERE . You must uninstall all other versions before installing it. Some users have reported that it works when all other versions failed.
|
Still having the same problem with version 1.47!
Thanks a lot anyway! Ty |
Okay Ladies and Gentlemen.... "ecco" one more guy with this problem.... =(

Re: "Read or Write device information failed"
Serp, my manufacturer has recently emailed me with my players original firmware. I tried uploading it to the site but the connection kept timing itself out for some reason, might try again later.
Anyway, it's a 2g nano fake firmware. made for a 1.8"TFT screen, although i'm led to believe it's compatible with some 1.5"s. I had the same problem as you. What I thought was the right firmware would not get recognised by the update tool. What I believe was innappropriate firmware would load instantly. the 20+ firmwares I tried would load onto the player in a matter of seconds. The original firmware took close to 3minutes! From then, I knew I had the right firmware. Anyhow, here's a pic of my player http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=130022163401 If you (or anyone) for that matter need firmware for the player above or one fairly similar, PM ME. Mod/admin, I'll try uploading again some time tommorrow. If all fails, i'll send one of you guys the firmware to upload onto the site. Thanks. All the best. |
GDSGFT, Good news to hear you got your player going again :) and thankyou for uploading it. If you are still having problems the next time you try it may be easier to load it to ezshare.de and leave a link for download.
There is a entry on the upload page for a link. Thanks again. |
Re: "Read or Write device information failed"

Okay guys.....I accidentally broked the battery wires...and was furious  but I tried to conect the device in USB port....and......it was detected like a usb flash...not adfu...!!!! after format the usb device, it was detected by the MP3 update tool...and the firmware was writed correctly........and after just conect the wires....remember the correct positions..... 8) .... sorry about the english I think that if I had waited the full charge of battery the result will be the same.....thank you guys.... :D serp...se precisar de uma ajuda.... fxrnxndx@hotmail.com Bye  |
Re: "Read or Write device information failed"
I have the same problem, but using the last tip I īve got a message such as
"Unknow flash type" |
Okay...let's try an other fix....open the...Open the comercial product tool recomended on topic begining.
conect the ADFU device.....click in DONWLOAD.... after this process, the mpx is disconected and re-recognized how an flash disk....the rest is the same..... format and upgrade.... |
The problem occurs when the memory chip (the biggest one) is not pressed. So you have to put a piece of paper (or what you think is better) on it and put the back cover back on, so there is pressure on it. After that try to recover the player with the full firmware. I tried it with my player a few hours ago and now its revived!!! I hope that this fix helps who need!!! Thanks to the user "Jesper" who discovered the fix! Thanks to all!
