Default Windows Recognises as FS not ADFU.

In the process of updating firmware, my computer crashed and killed my player.

I revived it using the dead recovery technique but windows (98) recognises it as an FS USB device and not an ADFU.

The drive loads up in explorer and I can still use the utility tools to update firmware.

The screen on the player loads up (white backround) and although I can't see a picture, I can still turn it off by holding the middle button down.

I guess my question is, should my computer be detecting it as an ADFU drive as stated in the dead player guide, or can it still be recovered as an FS drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

GDSGFT, Sorry I am not sure how Win98 handles the recovery process. When you short the chip and the player is recognised as a FS drive and you start the MP3 Upgrade tool do you get a message that your player is in recovery mode? If so it should be ok. You may need to try a few more firmware to find a compatible one.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

When I shorted the chip, it picked it up as an FS drive.

When I open up the update tools, it says nothing about recovery mode and it allows me to update firmware.
