Another one bits the dust ...
I bought an MP3/MP4 nano look-alike an killed on the 1st day :!:
It came with 3.5.35 installed and with an installation CD which had upgrade firmware on it. Two files, one about 3Mb the other 7 Mb. Both version 3.3.37 ( when loaded in the Upgrade tool - RdiskUpdate) So I tried to upgrade, bad idea. Tried them both, blank screen after both. And no, I didn't back up the original. I presume that the CD was not specific to the player I got but was supplied to provide the software ... When plugged into USB port it is detected as "GENERIC USB DISK DEVICE" and the memory (4Gb) can be accessed, written/read/formatted. I presume I need to find the correct firmware. I found a 3.3.35 version on this forum, but no good. All upgrades do come back as successful. What is the best way to find the correct firmware? Thanks. |
polesworth,
The problem is that there are so many players now being spat out by hundreds of manufacturers and they all cook up there own firmware to match the components they use. This makes version numbers like 3.5.35 or 3.5.37 almost meaningless as there could be 1000,s of 3.5.35 out there and maybe only 1% of these are compatible with your player but even if they aren't most of them will still load successfully. Unfortunately your only option is to try as many firmware as you can find perhaps starting with your version number but then moving to other versions as well. If you add some pictures of your player and a link to where you got it perhaps another member has bought the same player from the same manufacturer\seller and can link you to the firmware you need. |
