Old Sparky

When i tried to do the dead recovery guide my player sparked when i touched the tweezers to the memory chip. Is that ok?

Hoppes. As there is current passing through the player at the time and you are in fact creating a short circuit on the chip in order to reset it you could expect to see a very small amount of sparking at contact.

Re: Old Sparky

i think it might be advisable to "ground" yourself before attempting to short the chips. Static charges in your body might accidentally kill your chips totally, rendering it totally un-useable. The body static is more pronouced during drier weather conditions (ie summer months or winter months in extremely cold countries).
A simple way of grounding would be to physically touch your CPU casing, so as neutralise any excess static charges. Or another way would be to keep your barefoot on the floortiles if you have them in your house.
