my player is not dead but it can't connect to my PC

my players volume, drops to low,even if i put it to max volume wich is 31, it sounds like the volume level is set to 10. no firmware update yet. i don't think it's a hardware malfunction bec. when i switch it to the loud speaker the volume is still low.. but when i switch it to FM radio, the volume is loud and clear. the record funtion is not working.

i updated the firmware but nothin happens, the volume is still low..


after firmware update my player works well but when i connect it to my PC, theres a warning. it says "your new hardware is not working well.. unable to install driver.. blahblahblah"
my MP4 player is a 1.8" sony it has a firmware version of 9.0.43.


hir's the good news, i will soon post my new mp4 player themes/skins once my player is working.. i made a NBA theme for 1.5" players and another vista theme for 1.8"..

Try connecting to a different USB port.
What 9.0.43 firmware did you use? , if possible please leave a link.

i've tried all the usb port in my PC, but nothing works. i get the same error message.

can i short the pins and then get an adfu device and recover my player with a full firmware?

pls. help me find a full 9.0.43 firmware..

Is your player using the CTW500 chipset or ATJ2097?
Did you ever extract a dump from your player?
What firmware did you use to upgrade the first time?

i dunno my player's chipset coz i didn't open it yet and i can't use EasyChip coz my player can't connect to my computer.. Yes! i extracted a dump firmware from my player.. I use the extracted dump firmware from my player. evrything works well except for the volume and it can't connect to a PC..

wtf ? is that problem fromthe dump you uploaded ? if it is... you should repair it or find some else

The same happened to me once, when I uploaded a 9.0.43 firmware that I had packed with s1fwx.

Luckily I have the full firmware for my player.. so I repaired it immediately (by recovering it with the memory chip reset).

Show me how is your player, maybe my firmware is usefull.. but I don't think so :S

my player can connect to my PC before, then i updated the firmware and that's it. my player can't connect to my PC anymore.

Sure, this is my firmware:

and this is another firmware that came in the miniCD (it's also a 9.0.43 firmware for a 1.8" player):

Before trying to upgrade the player with these firmwares post some photos showing it, also post more information about it. Another thing you should check, it's if in your miniCD there is a full copy of the firmware for your player.
You can completely kill your player by uploading another firmware that is not the same from your player.. do it under your risk..
