Yet another black nano clone problem

Hi guys,

First up, this site is awesome! I mucked up my mp4 player and thought it was dead. Once I found your site, and tried the Dead Recovery Guide, I'm on my way to fixing it!

Only problem, I can't find suitable firmware anywhere.

Now my specs. This is the part I'm not sure on. I'll describe where the bit is, and all the letters, because I don't know which is the memory etc.

Little square chip at top left:
ATJ208FW (the 5 could be a 6, it's hard to read).

Longer rectangular chip halfway down the left side
Samsung 631 K9WAGO8UIA fhfe79m2

On the blue battery (?) lots of chinese writing and
402040
3.7v
260mAh
4.2v

It's a black ipod nano wannabe with 4gb memory and a 1.8 screen.
It originally started with an animation that had a waterlily on a green background that went straight to a spinning disc called music. it had games, ebook, amv movies.

I hope that's enough info! Please, if you need anymore, let me know.

Hopefully someone can help me out be pointing me towards some firmware.

Thanks in advance!

Capricious,
There are quite a few of the waterlily theme firmware in the download section. I suggest you download a copy of s1res and use it to open all the firmware you download to check for the waterlily theme.
Sadly the specs you have quoted are quite standard it is things like mainboard, LCD type, key layout etc that need to match and as most people do not know this info it is not listed.

If you bought the player as a 4GB it had a hacked chip as the K9WAG08U1A (16GigaBit) = 2GB, so you may need to try and remove the hack by formating your player as it could give you problems upgrading the firmware.

There are 100's of firmware variations now so the hardest part is trying to find the right one to suit your players hardware specs. You could try contacting your supplier for a copy of the firmware but if he is selling hacked players he may not be to helpful.

Ok, thanks.

I didn't realise it was hacked.

And the seller is useless.

I have formatted the player before it died, so the hack should be gone?

I'll take another look.

Thanks again.
