Broken USB connector

My USB connector broke off inside my player. Has anyone else had this happen and, if so, how did you fix it? I don't know if it needs solder, or glue. It looks like one of the connector pins is broken as well. Does anyone know if there are three pins on the connector or four? Thanks for any help.

Completely broken off. I just disconnected it from the computer (or tried to) and the connector came out of the hole.

Well, I thought maybe someone might have had the same problem.

You want SMD soldering for that. Otherwise, it won't be an easy fix. Perhaps you might have some helpful friends?

crystal3 , if you opened your player, you'll be able to see the broken solder points on the board. Place the socket over the board and verify that the connections are correct (should be 4 connections).
Now you need to solder it back either yourself, or friends, or go to some handphone/electronics repair shops to do it.

Thanks for the tip. What is SMD Soldering? Or maybe I should just get a new one.

A pin must have broken off because I only have 3 pins on the connector but there is space for 4.

Re: Broken USB connector

crystal3 , if you're not so comfortable with soldering, i'll suggest that you bring it to an electronics/handphone repair shop to get the soldering done. As the board is very confined, you might end up damaging other parts or "shorting" while soldering.
