mareregu , Here is a thread discussing about editting the windows registry to disable the write protect.
If your player can be detected by the MP3 Utilities Upgrade Tool, you will need to try various firmware dumps in the downloads section for your screen size to recover your player.
Regarding the data, can you see your player's drive appearing in explorer? If so, you can retrieve your data out. If not, go through the process of recovering your player. But you might end up not being able to retrieve the data from the memory chip. As in some cases, you will need to format your player before it can accept firmware dumps.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Hi, I got the same problem than mareregu, but I have check the firmware that cause my problem... this firmware it was in the disc that came with the MP4... it results that it was for other MP4 from the same company... the MX767, and this MP4 aperantly it has a Hold function that is on the firmware that I use... an this is what is doing that my MP4 its apparently Hold, what means that is blocked and it is in "read only"... I suppouse that we need to find the way to format manualy the memory... or turn off the Hold function that has the firmware... at least in my case... I HOPE WE CAN FIND THE ANSWER WITH THE HELP FROM THE USERS OF THIS FORUM...

Try loading a firmware with the Product Tool. It has a button to format the chip if the tool can not write to the device. The button is usually inactive but if the memory is locked it may work. Give it a try you can download the Product Tool here:

Kain, It is a .zip file, if you are running Windows XP there should be an option to extract the file when you right click on it. Alternatly download 7Zip to extract the software.
