chiPod Nano "4 GB" Lisong LSD_9101_11

To start things off.. thanks for a great site

A) I recently "won" a 4 GB black iPod Nano copy from a Chinese eBay dealer. Yesterday I put about 3.5 gb worth of mp3s on there, I went through my whole collection of about 35 gb worth of songs and handpicked the best ones. (Took me hours and hours.) I then turn the mp3 player on to listen, and to my surprise, I have only 162 songs on there.

I plug it back to USB and check Explorer.. and it was really weird, I got up until about the letter E or so, and the last 20 songs or so (in the alphabetical order) were showing as duplicates of about 5-7 each. As in, I had 7 "Beatles - Yellow Submarine.mp3" or whatever the song names were. All identical sizes and dates.

I format the player in Explorer, and for kicks and giggles also check the drive for errors, and start re-adding songs again.

Of course the shit happens again. I e-mail the eBay seller and she tells me "Hello, Thanks for your Question. Please Download new 3.xx software from www.mympxplayer.org. regards,"

It was then I discovered the fact that my 4 GB player, was in fact, not 4 GB.

To my first question, which maybe isn't in the right place in the forum.. But how can they "get away" with this? Won't every single person who orders one wonder why they can only fit 1-2 gb worth of data on their players?

I haven't taken it apart yet, but I intend to soon, to check which chip it is that I have. I did notice though, that after about 950 megs of songs is when it started acting up and creating duplicates.

The weird thing is though, that it's never ever showed any signs of being less than 3.95 gb, when formatting and checking the properties and such.
The other people I've read about went to format theirs and it magically changed sizes on them, it's never done that for me.

B) After trying to upgrade my firmware with various files, I ended up with a blue screen, and have yet to be able to get it back to the way it was. Windows Explorer will NOT recognize it, but the computer automatically found the USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device, I never had to open it and do the tweezers thing.

I have tried the different full firmwire files listed in the Tutorial, but nothing happens, it just says "Invalid upgrade firmware file". BUT.. In the log file, the last log is "3.5.37v2.1b FM.fw 2006-11-23 16:51 V3.0.00 Success"
But the player still doesn't work? Every single file in the log says V3.0.00 no matter what the version I tried was.

C) Right as I'm typing this I got an e-mail from the seller offering me 2 USD in a partial refund, or a total refund if I mail it back to China. Those f'n bastards, I know I will never see my money!!! Time to file a complaint with eBay..

Actually, forget replying, I got pissed off and threw it across the room and now the screen looks like a lavalamp. But I'm sending it back just the way it is to China, I'll keep you updated about my refund.

Hello SwishaSwede!

I have almost exactly the same story as you :(

"Windows Explorer will NOT recognize it, but the computer automatically found the USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device, I never had to open it and do the tweezers thing." (I have also checked the guide).

Unfortunatelly the "Dead Player Recovery Guide" does not seem to help with this kind of player (I suppose you got the same as on the picture?):

Somebody in this forum, who knows how to get this player detected in Windows XP, if you have got the blue screen?
Would be great if I could get it to work properly again.

Thankful for any tip!

intelinside 13th Dec 2006 6:36 am

Re: chiPod Nano "4 GB" Lisong LSD_9101_11

yup, my computer can detect 'USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device' in device manager.

Martin88 13th Dec 2006 7:54 am

Did you ever get a blue screen?

intelinside 14th Dec 2006 6:43 am

Re: chiPod Nano "4 GB" Lisong LSD_9101_11

now just hang in blue screen....

Martin88 14th Dec 2006 11:32 am

Re: chiPod Nano "4 GB" Lisong LSD_9101_11

Well, my player does also show a blue screen and can be seen as 'USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device' in device manager.

But the problem is I can NOT find it at "My Computer" like in this picture (no player here, right):

[img=left:c41d471c69]http://screenshots.leeindy.com/my_computer-details_view.gif[/img:c41d471c69]

Do you see your player/moveable disc in "My computer" too??

Ok, then I guess there is nothing we can do but wait... :(

Seems to be a rather commun problem.

SOMEBODY HELP!

tadad1 18th Dec 2006 5:50 am

Martin88, If the player is detected as an ADFU device this means that the firmware is corrupted. When the player is switched on it does a system check and finding the firmware unreadable goes into recovery mode as an ADFU Device. The only way to bring it out of recovery mode is to load a full version firmware. The fact that your player appears in the device manager as USB 2.0 (HS) tells me that your player is using one of the new Action chips so you will need 9.0.XX series firmware.

There are some full version 9.0.48 here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/some-9048...ds-vt2895.html
and some full version 9.0.50 and 9.0.43 here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-vers...500-df413.html
http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-vers...043-df436.html
http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-vers...lcd-df430.html

There is only a slim chance that they will fully recover your player but once loaded your player should be detected by windows.

Re: chiPod Nano "4 GB" Lisong LSD_9101_11

tadad1, :P THANK you VERY VERY much from Sweden, finally my player is detected at "my computer" and I can see all the files I put on it before it crashed :P :P :P I AM VERY PLEASED AND DO REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP (hope intelinside does the same).

Now, there is just one problem left: to install the correct software into my player (I am to worried just to try one and have my player crashed once again).

Have you any tip of a "safe" software/firmware for me to download, just to get it work like in the beginning again?

My kind of player can be seen beneath and this is the link to where I bought it:

Any tip :?:

Mikeuk1111 24th Feb 2007 12:15 pm

I purchases one of these so called 4gb.
Mine is actually 2gb.
It works fine but I did the following.

You need a piece of software called "AMV Convert Tool 3.68"do a Google search for it...). This all assumes you are running a standard PC with Microsoft Windows as the operating system...

Before you begin, backup anything you want / need from the player (i.e. copy and paste all the files you want to keep from the player onto your pc... Formatting will wipe all files from the player!).

Once installed on your PC, with the player turned on and attached with the USB, run "MP3 PLAYER DISK TOOL" from the program group in the start menu. When the tool loads, select "low" in the format type, then select the "partition and encryption" tab at the top of the window. Firstly you must drag the slider all the way to the right, and click "start", formatting the drive... Then drag the slider all the way to the left, and again click "start", this time formatting to the correct true capacity the player has...

The player will now run with much more stability, and with it's true capacity being recognised by Windows...

Re: chiPod Nano "4 GB" Lisong LSD_9101_11

OK, I have already formatted my player and the capacity was only 2gb here too

However, I still need the correct FIRMWARE for this player to get it started (did never copy mine in the first place :( ).

Mikeuk1111, I think we have the same version of the player! I would be very kind of You if You could upload your firmware version in this forum. This probably, will solve my problem! :D
