here's a picture that looks a lot like my mp4 player except mine seems a little longer than this and has a different brand: [img=right:c2df310598]http://www.mympxplayer.org/images/avatars/33158921545073f9319256.gif[/img:c2df310598]
i recently upgraded my f/w and now my mp4's dead. i know a lot of people have had this problem but mine seems different. as i said, windows detects it, however incorrectly.
i got a new f/w from this site. the file was called firmware mod files.bak. it was from the themes section. when i ran the mp3 upgrade tool, it said that
my old f/w and new f/w were the same so i went ahead and installed it. i read all the warnings and i thought i was being careful. apparently not careful enough.
when i finished, the player screen went dead. now there's just a lit black screen. when i plug in the device to my computer, it detects it as a single drive.
before, when i would plug it in windows sees it as 2 drives: 1 cd drive and 1 flash drive. now all i get is the flash drive.
when i run the mp3 upgrade tool, i get this: "Device Switching Failed, please reconnect." it doesn't detect my player. i tried running extract.bat to see if that program could still see imy player and it does. in fact it sees and extracts the whole thing. i don't know what to do.
i've got a backup of my old firmware. at least that's something, right? :(
here's some info about my player that u might use. it's 1 gig and the brand says ace a-088. here's the old f/w info:
manufacturer:Wilson Co. Ltd.
firmware version 3.5.35
i hope u guys can help me. i've got a wealth of songs that i don't wanna lose not to mention a ton of pertinent documents. please please please!!! :(
************** UPDATE ***************
after reading the dead player recovery guide, i successfully did the adfu thing and got the program to recognize my player. when i got the f/w that i extracted and repaired yesterday, it would read for a while and then say that there's a read or write error. the thing is, i looked for new firmwares that have successfuly revived dead players and the program loaded it on the player just fine. does anybody know what to do. here's a summary of my old firmware:
