ADFU mode, not able to load full FW

I modified original dump to fix minor radio glitch, but after loading it my 1.5 inch Nano clone MP4 (ATJ2091H, 2GB) the screen is stuck with hourglass. I realised that in modified DUMP, the FWIMAGE.FW is empty.
Atleast it connects with PC in ADFU mode, but while loading original full FW it moves bars upto about 20% & then stays stuck there. I tried many different full FW, no success. I tried shorting memory at differen states of uploading, but all it does is turning off the MP4 & loosing connection with PC.
Ice might be the answer, but making JD-ICE board will be too expensive for fixing $60 player. Is there any other trick?

Re: ADFU mode, not able to load full FW

kunal , there is a post from nickyblast, saying to try various versions of the MP3 Utilities Here. As different versions may or may not work with your player.

The other versions can be downloaded from the downloads section.

CaptainZap,
I have the dump file that was saved before I killed it. No luck with full FW. Sorry...

mark2 1st Dec 2006 1:53 am

I have the same problem as you and we need the full 9.0.48 f/w file to fix it but I cant find it anywhere.

rikigoal 1st Dec 2006 5:15 am

I also have the same problem with a 8gb samsung memory atj2091h player, I can't find the firmware anywhere...disperate =9 if someone can help me please email me rrriki@tin.it. thanks

Re: Recovered!!!!

Yes!
I did it!!
Steps of recovery from hourglass stuck nano clone:
Step 1: download full FW 9.0.50 from http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-vers...lcd-df430.html
Step 2: upload 9050 to dead player. This makes my player have a blue blank screen with a dark line at bottom of screen.
Step 3: disconnect the player & restart using on-off switch on top of nano clone. Then reconnect & wait for few seconds -now player is recognised by PC as removable disk. (If you turn on "MP3 Player product tool 4.19", it will recognise mp3 player with removable disk).
Step 4: Now upload original dump bin.
...That's it back in business. Now I am back to my original settings.

Here is my player's specs:
2GB Nano clone with brand name "Kudez"
CPU: ATJ2091H

Good luck to all...

kunal,
I am glad you have been able to recover your player with the 9.0.50 firmware, this will give hope to other people with the same problem. Thankyou for taking the time to list the steps you took to recover your player.
Good work :)

CaptainZap 6th Dec 2006 4:11 pm

Re: ADFU mode, not able to load full FW

Can u upload your dump file plz.Thx
LE I`ve tryed to upload the 9.0.50 firmware but i get an unknown flash error...i`ve tryed a second write and it says flash done...but the screen is black and is still seen by windows as an adfu device.

kunal 6th Dec 2006 8:59 pm

CaptainZap, I tried to upload my dump yesterday. It took long time to upload, but I was not able to locate the file. I had it under member's upload. May be you can guide on upload.

Send me your firmware by mail then...at "capta1nzap@yahoo.com"

mark2 7th Dec 2006 5:28 am

Hi
I tried to load this and it says upgrade is a success but when I switch of and on I get a blue screen and it switches on and off. It did connect briefly but not long enough to do anything with

kunal 7th Dec 2006 10:59 pm

CaptainZap,
I just emailed you the dump files.

Mark2,
If your player was stuck in ADFU, it seems like now it is back to USB mode. If that is the case all you need to do is reload your own original dump file, & you shuold get back to original screen display.
If you do not have original dump from your own player, you will have to keep trying all dumps you can find (9.0.43 or 9.0.48 or 9.0.50). Mine is 9.0.43 & works on ATJ2091H chip.
I also have Visual Land brand nano clone (not opened, so do not know the chip) that also uses 9.0.43, and is working perfect without a radio glitch. So I tried to load that dump on my Kudez brand nano clone, but unfortunately it does not work -gives me blue screen.
In other words, even with same FW version, the dump file can make a huge difference.
I will be happy to email you my dump files from all three nano clones I own.
Good luck.

kunal 7th Dec 2006 11:11 pm

Mark2,
I missed reading your note saying it is going on & off.
This means you have loaded a dump that is not letting your player load fully to be recognised by pc as a USB device. You will have to physically short the memory & while holding in short, load the right dump file. (I had this problem once, & it worked that way). You may have to reload full version of 9.0.50 again to get blue screen that does not turn on & off by itself.

mark2 8th Dec 2006 1:55 am

Hi Kunal
I have just tried what you suggested several times but the player still keeps going on and off. When I look in explorer it recognises two removable drives one abou 57k and the other about 3800k bu it switches off before I can do anything with it.

tadad1 8th Dec 2006 2:16 am

mark2, Your player is stuck in a boot up loop. It starts to boot then hits a problem then resets. The fact that the upgrade tool reports a success is because it loaded the firmware without any problems it does not mean that the firmware is suited to you player.

To kill the reset loop I suggets you use the Dead Player Recovery Guide to reset you player. You will then need to load a full version firmware to take it out of recovey mode so you can try some of the other 9 series firmware.

mark2 8th Dec 2006 2:36 am

Hi Tadad
I have tried the dead recovery guide and have tried to use fw 35.35 fw 35.37 fw 9.0.42/3 and none of them load fw 9.0.50 loads and says success but it still switches on and off. The Chip is AJT2091H do you think I need the fw 9.0.48 ? is that the problem ?

tadad1 8th Dec 2006 3:39 am

tadad1, Sadly if none of the others are helping there may not be alot you can do at the moment. I have seen no full 9.0.48 anywhere and I have done some looking.

mark2 8th Dec 2006 3:46 am

tadad
Yeah I have looked as well ..I wonder why its not available anywhere? someone must have it ...when do you thinks 1fwx will be able to extract it ?

tadad1 8th Dec 2006 6:20 am

mark2, My understanding is that "wiRe" is working on a totally new extraction tool that will replace s1fwx. I have no idea of the timeline though.

mark2 8th Dec 2006 6:42 am

Yeah ..will have to wait for that I suppose

kunal 8th Dec 2006 4:27 pm

Mark2, I had this loop problem after loading one of the dump files. It was not running long nough even to get recocgnised on "MP3 Player Product Tools 4.19". But then shorted the memory & reflashed with 9.0.50 which brought it back to steady blue screen. At this point I was abl to load my backed dump for this particular player.
Question 1: Is your player going in loop mode right after flash with 9.0.50? If so, this might not be the right 'full FW' for your player. But you may still try loading other dumps while holding memory shorted.
Question 2: Do you have your player's own dump file? If you are able to load it after 9.0.50 & still getting having loop, then 9.0.50 is definately not the answer to your probem.
I can e-mail you three dumps from my personal collection of mp4's. I was not successful in uploading files here on website.

mark2 9th Dec 2006 4:03 am

Hi Kunal
Yes it goes into loop mode straight away and I cant get it recognised long enough to load anything. I would appreciate the dump files if you can mail them or upload to a server. Email is halkewl@hotmail.com.

Re: ADFU mode, not able to load full FW

I didn't receive your e-mail.Can you please send it again.Thx

sak_cheegii 9th Dec 2006 5:42 am

Hey guys
Don't forget to disable Your ANTIVIRUS software when you are extracting your players firmware using S1FWX. Antivirus will break your extracting firmware! Also Memory is broken if it freezes at 20% when you uploading any of (Full or dumped) firmware. (Show like "UNKOWN FLASH TYPE" or "READ OR WRITE ERROR") Try resoldering your memory clear if you have problem with memory. Ok, Thanks
Goodluck then

mark2 9th Dec 2006 5:52 am

Hi sak_cheegii

Thats the first I have heard about memory being damaged. Resoldering sounds a bit drastic though?

kunal 9th Dec 2006 11:21 am

Captainzap, I just noticed that dump files are about 8MB each. Probably too big to be transferred by emails. Let me figure out were to share on web & I will let you know. Please suggest a good (& free)site for web storage & sharing if you know one.

kunal 9th Dec 2006 11:32 am

OK, here is the link to my web folder sharing. I have loaded one & in process of loading other two.
Hope it helps..

Re: ADFU mode, not able to load full FW

I've tried that version of the firmware, the one you uploaded there, but i can't write 9.0.43 firmware versions to my mp4, but after I've flashed the 9.0.50 firmware my player also have gone in that loop, but i've managed to get it to adfu mode.Hope the other 2 versions of firmware you've got help me more than this.
Cheers.

kunal 10th Dec 2006 12:04 am

all three dump files are at: http://www.esnips.com/web/MP4Dumps

I also have put a Merge lab created from guidance (by ~J-@С~ & JedOi) at: http://forum.s1mp3.org/viewtopic.php...er=asc&start=0
This helps create full firmware from your backed up Dump file by combining it with any Full Firmware that works on your MP4 player. Details are enclosed in rar file.

CaptainZap 10th Dec 2006 3:44 am

Re: ADFU mode, not able to load full FW

I've checked your links, but sadly none of those versions work on my mp4.I don't know why i can't force writing the 9.0.43.
