hmm solved my own problem. i guess for this player i would need an ipod shuffle battery. thanks guys!

dopefisher11 , it all depends on your player's available space for the replacement battery. You need to measure the maximum length, width & thickness. Some sellers on eBay lists the ipod battery dimensions, but not sure if they are accurate. For my player, only the ipod shuffle fits.

The higher the mAh rating, the longer the battery lifespan, so go for a higher rating as possible. The only thing to look out for is the voltage rating, which is usually 3.7V, not much of a problem.

Hey everyone update here! i successfully soldered on an ipod nano battery to my wilson 1gb digital mp4 player using a pencil soldering gun and a very tiny bit of rosin core solder. charging now, don't expect it to crap out this time. thanks for all your help. the only problem i have now is finding out what to do with my 512 mb player i ordered to replace this one!

well sh*t lol! again, i charged the battery for 2 hours with the power switch in the OFF postition by accident. is this what keeps killing my batteries? now the friggin battery won't charge again! or was the player unable to charge it in the first place? waaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

dopefisher11, That could be your problem, I have heard that recharging with the unit switched off can cause damage.
