Default FIRMWARE WONT INSTALL

i have an mp4 player that needed a firmware after a botched upgrade, anyway i could not find one that worked so i orderd another one from the same vender "Uxcell" but when i go to extract the firmware from the new one i get this message.

Click the image to open in full size.

if i press continue it seems to extract the firmware. then i try to upload it to the old mp4 and i get a message saying "invalid firmware upgrade file"

the two mp4s are exactly the same so what is going wrong

cheers

broose, Have not seen the message before.
What method are you using to extract the firmware?
Can you upload the firmware to www.uploaded.to and leave me a link so I can check it out.

Also despite the two players looking the same they may not be using the same components. As you can imagine the Chinese MP4 market is pretty cut throat and if a manufacturer can source cheaper components from different suppliers to maximize his profit he will. Consequently the players can differ from batch to batch.

broose,
None I can see, it is repaired and has no checksum errors.
The player you are trying to load it to do you get a message that the player is in recovery mode when you run the update tool?

broose, a little dated, the extraction and repair process has been upgraded twice since then so download 3.1 here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/s1fwx-31-df417.html
and try a new extraction on your new player.
