Default DEAD iPod Nano Clone(BETOP) 1.8" 2Gb

Hi everyone.
First i want to thank you all for a very good site, and especially tadad1 for all his effort to help out people with their problems.

Now to my problem...i recently bought a iPod Nano Clone in thailand/bangkok on MBK(Mahboonkrong).
The name of the player is BETOP, 1.8" LCD(TFT), 2Gb, FM radio and builtin speaker.

The first thing i did when i got home, was to look at firmware or actually theme updates. I found a theme including a FW file, but first i did run s1fwx to backup my firmware.
Then i did the big misstake, i did the firmware upgrade and after that the display turned white.

After reading the "Dead Player Recovery Guide" i opened the player and followed the instruktions about reseting the chip.

The after 100's of tries with different FW/BIN files i've figured out that "Full_1.8inch_9.0.43.bin" and my own dump file is getting closest to a recovery, instead of just a white display with all the other FW/BIN files, i at least get the "hour glass" back....pretty close but not close enough... :roll:

It seems like my dump file isn't complete, se below:

s1fwx v3.0 - copyright (c) 2005 wiRe (http://www.s1mp3.de/)

---[ info ]--------------------------------------------------------------------
filename = 'dump.bin'
filetype = afi
md5 = ADFF23449B6FC70EB69A2272614E8830

---[ info:afi ]----------------------------------------------------------------
file id = 'AFI '
vendor id = 0x6977
product id = 0x6552
version = 9.0.48
date = 00/00/0000

+---filename---+ +---size---+ +-type-+ +---+ +--chksum--+
| BRECF285.BIN | | 16kb | | F285 | | B | | D568A470 |
| FWIMAGE.FW | | 6mb | | | | I | | 383F104C |
| SYSINFO.BIN | | 192bytes | | | | | | 65B0599C |
+--------------+ +----------+ +------+ +---+ +----------+

---[ info ]--------------------------------------------------------------------
filename = 'dump.bin.FWIMAGE.FW'
filetype = unknown
md5 = DA6A0D097E307AC52ED9B4AD551801FC

...but atleast i can se its version 9.0.48.

I also found 9.0.48 on a site(http://www.factory-shop.net/index.ph...&articleid=128) but they don't do the trick.

Does any of you guys have any ideas?
Is it possible to merge my semi working dump file with another dumpfile?

Heres two pictures of my player:

My final plan is to buy another one via my friend in thailand just for dumping the firmware, it's better with two woking players then none... :wink:

Please...help me!

zany, Can you upload your firmware to www.uploaded.to and leave me a link so I can download it. I will try a merge for you.

Here's two FW files that came on a cd with my player, they are in a subfolder named "AMV format(1.8 LCD) convert Tool and Drive V3.5.0.1"

I'm not sure what they are, s1fwx doesn't seem to like them.

zany,
This is a merge of your dump with a full version 9.0.48 but I think the fwimage.fw file within your dump was not extracted properly so I do not think the merge file will work but it is worth a try.

This is another 1.8 Full version 9.0.48 but it may not be compatible with your player.

So...now i tried, an this is the results:
your merged file gave me the same result as my dump.

The 1.8 Full version 9.0.48 didnt work at all.

So far the best and closest i can get is:
Start with: Full_1.8inch_9.0.43.bin
then update with: my old dump or your merged dump file, they both give the same result, and thats "just the hour glass"

zany, The current extraction tools are not able to decrypt the fwimage.fw file in the firmware so it does not get copied properly and can not be repaired. s1fwx was upgraded to 3.1 to repair 9.0.43 firmware but still does not work on anything after that version. Sadly until some new tools are available and people start uloading working dups there is not a lot that can be done for your player.
