disk error

I got this look alike iPod and i cant seem to get into anything but the settings and fm radio.
We could'nt get how to work the ipod. And I'm sure that the dick that came with it isn't the correct one. Everytime i open one of the setup files it says error setting up or it freezes on me. My brother tried to put in songs and things like that for me. Not sure what he touched, but now when I try to get into something it says disk error, on all except the settings and the fm.
I'm not too sure what I should do.
My ipod version is

mp3 Player
SC85051F
2006/04/25
ACT_V3.5.35

If someone could give me some advice or has the answer to the problem it would be greatly appreciated.

marWeenie, Try formatting the player by connecting it to your PC, if you can access it in Explorer copy any files you want to keep to you PC. Right click on the player icon and choose format.

You might just have to tell me the steps to formatting it because I'm not really too sure about computers.
I'm sorry if this makes things more complicating.
Computers and I don't get along very well =S
Thanks.

marWeenie, Turn your player on and connect it to your PC. Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. You should see your player as a removable disk. Right click on the icon and choose Format from the drop down menu.

The format window will open, select FAT filesystem and press start.

Re: disk error

marWeenie , try downloading AMV Tool from the downloads section in this forum, and install it.
Next, try to perform a format using the Disk Tool, the guide is Here.

marWeenie, What capacity is your player?
The Partition may have become corrupt.
Connect your player then right click on the My Computer Icon. Select Manage from the drop down menu. When Computer Manager opens go to Disk Management and find your players drive. Right click on it if it has an option for new partiton select it.
