need help identifying player
 

umm i bought this "mp4" player that only plays mp3.. the cd that came with it is screwed... ==' so i need help identifying and the correct firmware

its a " sony s-425" 5 buttons rew,fwd,mode,player/pause&vol
it runs on phone batteries so its rechargable

wen i go to the firmware bit on the mp4 player it says b809g6v1.2

vietslayer, It is hard to say what firmware your player uses. I recommened you do not try to load any firmware to your player as there is a very real chance that it will stop working completely.

Are you having problems with the player?
What video files have you tried playing on it?
Was there any other firmware info in the Settings menu?

i've tried mp3 works fine..mp4 doesnt work .amv works ..on the top it says mp4,wma,mtv&amv..

vietslayer, These players are mass produced in China generally without a brand name. As you may have guessed your player is not really SONY brand Although these players are called M4 Players they do not actually play the MP4 video format. Everything has to be converted to AMV video.
Your firmware is version 9.0.48 which is one of the newer versions so your player is running an ATJ2091, ATJ2097 or CTW500 chipset. At the moment there is no way to repair these players if you have firmware problems so do not try to upgrade your firmware.
Looking at the picture of your player it apears to have a 1.5 inch screen so you will need MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 to convert your videos to AMV.

Vietslayer, you can also play ogg music files, because of your new firmware.

Vietslayer, I had this kind of Mp4 player and I know it can only play amv file, even it shows MP4, MTV on the top . you can use AMV transform tool of Mp3 utilities program , change the setting size into 128 x 128 , you will get best result
