Default my player says is write protected!!!

Hi, I had a dead player and waiting for 9.0.48. I half recovered the player with the 9.0.50. Finally the 9.0.48 come up (thanks tadad1) and when I upgraded now it says is write protected. I start again with the recovery guide step by step but when I get to try to upgrade with the tools, it says "device switching failed, reconnect device please" and I can't upgrade any other FW, and I can't access the player either, even if it shows in explorer.

Please any idea-help?

I tried other versions of tools and deleted the recover folder as well.

Thanks tadad1, you are so helpful, I don't know what we will do without you

ryr, This write protection problem crops up now and then and is a pain in the bum. I don't know if anyone has found a way to fix it so I am just going to throw some possibilities you can try.

Turn your player off press and hold down the play button and keep holding, turn your player on and connect your player to your PC. Try to format the drive. Remember hold down the play button through the whole procedure.

Try using this Low-Level format tool, I found you need to use it twice the first time does not seem to do anything.

Try using testdisk to delete the partition :

Try Using MP3 Player Disk Tool and using the Partition Encrypt tab move the slider to the middle and press start. If it works without error move it back to the left and press start again.

Try using the commercial Firmware Loading Utilitiy

Connect your player and run the tool, use the Import Firmware Button to load a FULL VERSION firmware. If the Erase Flash button becomes active use it. Then try loading the full version firmware you loaded by pressing the Download Button.

I recall one member posting that he managed to load a full version firmware to his player that unlocked it. Try using MP3 PLayer Utilities 4.07 to load some full version firmware.

Never had this problem myself so have not been able to actually worked on trying to remove the write protection.
There is also a possibility that the memory chip has failed in which case there is nothing you can really do.
