*** Assistance Please ** Mp4 Player Dead?
Ok so I have purchased:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=290057013980 and when i received it I have had problems since the start. It would only play for about an hour then shut off and need approx 6-12hr charge before it would play again (and that would only last for an hour) Now in recent days it will only play for about 10-15 mins and shut off entirely as if the firmware had gone bad (which it hadnt at this point b.c no mods had taken place) Now I am reading regarding your firmware upgrading and I attempted to put on: Ipod V1.5 from the firmware download section of this page for 2 reasons, one to attempt to correct the issue with turning off staying in a "Dead" state and to 'skin' it to look like an Ipod (I liked Doon's theme but the pics didnt work for my player so I thought the ipod V1.5 firmware but already be pre-skinned) Well that seems to have cooked my player. I am not mad at the site at all as it is CLEARLY stated try at own risk. I am more concerned that whenever i plug in my player to a usb port it shuts down my computer cold turkey just powers it off totally so I can't even to the reboot method for dead players which has worked for a previous player (doesn't matter if switch is in the on or off position) So now I am stuck. Did i receive a bunk product? Is there a way to correct this issue am I left in the cold now? Is my player even capable of getting Ipod Skinned? Please PLEASE PLEASE if anyone can provide some feedback or assistance I would greatly appreicate it. I am computer inclinded and do know alot about PCs and players. Thanks in Advance. |
macknup , try connecting the player to another computer instead and see if the problem still persists. What OS are you running your pc off?
If all else fails, the last thing i can think of is to remove the player's battery before connecting to the pc. Then connecting and performing the Dead Player Recovery. |
Re: *** Assistance Please ** Mp4 Player Dead?
Runnin Win XP, Havent tried another machine yet I will try that today.
Your saying to take the battery out and then unscrew, attach battery, switch to on, and attempt restore method? |
macknup , the method would be to open up the player, remove the battery wire (but you'll need to resolder the wire back after completed).
Then connect the player to the computer and attempt a recovery. |
