Dead Player
 

Hi, I bought a supposedly 4G MP4 player 1.5inch screen from Ebay. It works for 1 minute, then went into wait with the hour-glass symbol for ever. I then switched it off and on and it returned with the Chinese language menu but will not work. When I connect it to my computer it said the device need to be formatted. I format it with FAT but only at 960MB. I extracted the firmware from an identical player and upload it using the MP3 upgrade tool. Now the player is completely dead. It has a dead screen. When I connect to the computer (Windows XP) it will not show up on explorer but the computer detected the player. I had followed the dead player recovery guide on this website but it does not work.
The upgrade tool can detect the player with the "ready for upgrade" message.

The identical player has the following firmware:
LSD_9301_10 2006-11-21 9.0.48 2005-01-09

The dead player memory chip has the following markings:
SAMSUNG K9K8G0806M PCB0 NXEF36BA

henrytui , your player is running off the 9.0.48 chipset. It is very difficult to recover the 9.xx series of players as the tools for extracting firmwares for such players are still in development.
Take a look in your CD, there might be a firmware file which you can use.

henrytui, use the mp3 utlity 4.05 and download a FULL VERSION FIRMWARE FOR 9.0.48.. you can dload it from the full firmware dload section

and by the way henrytui if the upgrade tool detects your player as ready for recovery then you must load a full firmware version else the upgrade tool wont accept it.. goodluck\1

Hi, I am still struggling to revive my dead player. I could not download the full version of 9.0.48 for 1.5" screen from the download section here. Each time I click the "I agree" button it goes to a 6 seconds countdown but will not download. It revert to the download button again.
Can someone please email me the full firmware to henrytui@online.ie
