Unfortunately you have a 'hacked' player. It has been hacked to show more memory than it physically has inside the player. It looks like you might only have a 512MB chip.
There is no way for you to get back the 4GB as it never existed in the first place. By formatting, you have eliminated the hacked and unfortunately, you only had a 512MB player.
Where did you get it from?
I would definately recommend you take it back and get a refund as you have been sold a hacked player.
