Not charging, displays hourglass and switches off
Hi, I took delivery of a new 1gig MP4 player which arrived fully charged. It worked fine for one day until I thought it best to re-charge. Now, it simply won't work. The player is recognised OK by the PC and works great while connected - how useful is that? - and displays the charging animation, but as soon as it's unplugged, the screen flashes rapidly for a few seconds, displaying the hourglass before turning itself off completly - it won't switch back on.
Transfer of files works fine, I can read the firmware, every is OK other than no charging. I haven't attempted any updates or other modifications. I have dumped the firmware. Any help appreciated - and yes, charging while the unit was switched on as per the instructions. Thank you. Tony. |
greyrider , so basically the player works as per normal as long as it is connected to the computer via USB?
If so, it would likely be a faulty voltage regulator for charging inside. As it arrived working with full charge, but is unable to recharge the next day, i would rule out a faulty battery. i'll suggest you contact your seller for an exchange set. |
Re: Not charging, displays hourglass and switches off
Rats! I was hoping it might be something simple, that'll teach me to buy from a Hong Kong based seller :(
OK, I'll try but would think the cost of RMA might make it not worthwhile. Thanks for the quick response. |
Re: Not charging, displays hourglass and switches off
Thought so, £15 to send the thing and it only cost me £7 + post originally, so it's for the round file - that's the bin. I'll buy a "real" one from a local electronics shop. It'll cost nearly four times as much but at least I can walk it back if there's a problem
