Dead MP4 Recovery - HELP

Hi, I was following the "Dead Player Recovery Guide" and unscrewed the back of the MP4 (mine only has two screws). The screen is on top of the chip and somehow attached. How do I get to the chip? I've tried to attach a photo, but not sure if it'll work (that's another question).

Now trying to link uploaded photo of MP4 opened. Can't get to the chip as the screen is stuck in place on top of it. Has anyone got any suggestions?

try and try...but dont break your screen (or your player will be as useless like an ordinary flash drive with earphone)..you must be at reach to the CHIP to make the procedure.....

or the chip is under the battery (blue rectangle)..usually the chip is under the battery not the screen..usually the battery is placed witha foam tape..i have a suggestion..foam tape is hard to remove if you lift the object horizontally..try lifting from one corner then cpntinue until your about to lift the whole battery...

Re: Dead MP4 Recovery - HELP

Thanks Arviverona. But the battery is not on top of the chip. The battery is just sitting in there, held on by the wires. I can see the very edges of the chip under the screen and have tried making a connection with the two ends of a paper clip, but nothing happens (and yes, I have tried and tried). I'm assuming there's only one chip in there???

melkel00, The screen is usually held in place with double sided tape and can usually be gently prised off. There are 2 chips a rectangular memory chip which will be the largest on the board and a smaller square main chip. You really need to have full access to the chip for the recovery process as it may help to know the serial number of the CPU.
What version was your original firmware?
