I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
I finally got the driver to take on my laptop but not my desktop and i can see the adfu drive in explorer under the usb ports but when I look in my computer then properties it isn't there. If it doesn't show up then I can't download new code to it. By the way when I turn the mp3/mp4 player on I just get blue screen. I don't know what happened to it. I guess the files just got corrupt. It worked for 1 day. Any hlep would be greatly appreciated.

tttbrian, When a player is in ADFU mode it will not show in Explorer but should still be recognised by the MP3 Update Tool. When you start the tool you should get a message that your player is in Recovery Mode and waiting for firmware. You will then need to load a full version firmware.
What version was your players original firmware? |
Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
I used the tool and it wouldn't find it. I don't know what version it was becasue I only had it for 1 day. It is an mp3/mp4 4gb. What tool are you recommending using? The one I used i got off this web site.

Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
Also when I try to install to my desktop computer, I go to download the driver, the adfuupdate.inf, and the my computer says "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware". My laptop said the same thing but I just kept trying over and over and it finall took it. My computer hasn't accepted it yet. I still couldn't get the mp3 tool to work on my laptop with it though.

tttbrian,
buy.mall! is known to sell hacked players with fake memory chips so this is why your player crashed in the first place, also I notice he is no longer a Registered User at eBay which is not a good sign. If the player is new then it may be using one of the newer versions of firmware 9.0.48, 9.0.50 etc. If this is the case there is very little chance of recovering your player because there are so few of these firmware versions available for download so finding a match for your player is possibly worse odds than winning the lottery. I think we only have one 9.0.XX series firmware for 1.5 inch LCD players on site. You may find your best course of action is to file a dispute through ebay or paypal to get at least some of your hard earned cash back but if he is no longer a registered user then even that may not be possible. If possible you should open the player and check the memory chip (largest chip on the mainboard) serial number details in order to verify the players true capacity. You will find information on chip sizes here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/samsung-a...rs-vt1692.html If you do open the player there is also a smaller square chip that will be labeled ATJ20** let me know what this serial is will give a better indication of what your players firmware was and if there is any chance of recovery. |
Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
Man I really appreciate your help. I wish I would have found this site before I bought. Anyway the mp3 player did work at first, I downloaded songs from my desktop and it was fine. The next day I took it to work and downloaded from my laptop, which is windows NT and that is when it went to blue screen. Anyway the larger chip says SAMSUNG 646 and the smaller chip AT J2091N with a serial number FC083DB CCD. I hope this helps.

Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
The serial number on the SAMSUNG memory card is K9G8G08UOM.

tttbrian, A 1GB chip :(, what is the serial of the smaller square chip?
|
Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
If this is 1gb why did it look like a 4gb when I had it plugged in when it was working originally? The smaller chip is ATJ2091N serial FC083DB CCD.

tttbrian, A hacked player is when the manufacturer or seller reprogrames the chip by way of a software hack so that the chip reads larger than it's true size. This way the player can be sold for far more profit and rip-off the poor buyer. Some players actually have chips as small as 128MB but read as 4 & 8GB. Once you start loading the player with files over it's true capacity you start to experience file corruption, file duplication, files that can not be deleted, player restarts and system crashes. Eventually the firmware becomes corrupted and the player will no longer work.
you are not alone many buyers are scammed by these fraudsters. Check out these links for more info. http://www.petitiononline.com/eBay666/petition.html http://www.mympxplayer.org/feedback-...rs-vt2828.html http://www.mympxplayer.org/62-ebay-t...rs-vt3556.html http://www.mympxplayer.org/hotmale16...nz-vt2786.html http://www.mympxplayer.org/previous-...days=0&start=0 http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html |
tttbrian, As I suspected the ATJ2091 is one of the newer chips and uses the 9.0.XX series firmware. Because there are no tools yet to backup these firmware versions there are very few available for download which makes it near on impossible to recover a player once it crashes.
You will find the few we have on site here. http://www.mympxplayer.org/actions-9...mare-dc37.html http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-firmware-dc35.html |
Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
So for the driver do I use the same adfuupdate.inf and adfuupdate.sys files? If I can't get the computer to recognize the player I can't even try those firmware versions. Also what mp3 tool do I use to download the firmware? The ones here aren't working for me. Thanks!
|
tttbrian, Every version of MP3 Player Utilities has a MP3 Update Utility. For the newer version chips you will be better trying versions 4.05, 4.07, or 4.09 my understanding of "Chigoogle" translation is that these versions were optimized for the new chipsets and larger screen players.
If the player is not being recognised by the Update tool you may need to short the memory chip to reset as shown in the Dead Player Recovery Guide http://www.mympxplayer.org/dead-play...ide-vt567.html |
Re: I see usb adfu but I can't see it under my computer
I have shorted the chip several times. It must be a lost cause at this point. Thanks for the advice.
