Default How do I know which firmware to use?

I have a 512mb mp4 player that I won new on Ebay. It arrived DOA and I couldn't return it because the Seller just disappeared. When I turn it on all I get is the blue screen with the hour glass, it goes no further than that. As well, I can't get into the device through Windows. I assume I need a firmware flash? If so, how do I know which one to use? How can I tell which player I have? I have searched the motherboard and all I can find stamped on it is XA 27. The chip has K9K4G08U0M on it. Can anyone please help??

bayman, Without being able to get the firmware information from the players settings menu it is difficult to tell you what firmware you may need.
You will also find a small square chip on the motherboard with a serial number something like ATJ2085 or ATJ2097. This would help point you in the right direction.
If you can link to any images of the player to would help.

bayman, Well it doubt it is not an Action chipset player, to be honest I have not heard of the chip before. The bad news is I doubt if any of the current tools used to recover players are going to help in your case.
I did a google search and the only reference I could find was someone in the same predicament.
