Default Nano iPod Clone

Hi guys,

Great forum ...

I have (yep like many others) got done by the eBay scam ... and by this guy : ehere026

I have got this player but it's a 4Gb not the 8Gb: MP4 iPod Nano Clone

Also I know it's only gonna be a 2Gb player as my memory is a Samsung K9LAG08U0M ... I didn't check my original firmware version either (what a div) ... the chipset is a ATJ2091N ...

I had a faulty USB lead at first .... so I repaired that and went to reset my player to get its true memory capacity ...

I shorted the pins on the Samsung memory chip (as specified in the the recovery guide) and it now shows up with just the hour glass and keeps rebooting every few seconds when connected to the PC ... the PC keeps saying found device but disappears to quickly to run any recovery programs because of the player rebooting all the time ...

How can I get it to a stable state so I can recover it and be connected to the PC long enough to use some of the programs ? ...

cheers,
Gem

UPDATE:

I have also found that the unit's radio does not work ...

I have had enough with this product ... I wouldn't mind it if it worked ... I quite like it ... even though I was conned ...

I have emailed ehere026 with a stern letter:
Quote:
I am sorry to say that after repairing the USB cable (I did get the wires the right way round) it made no difference. I am wasting my time on this product. I have also found out that this device is ONLY 2Gb and not the 4Gb advertised when I won the bid. The radio STILL does not work as it should do.

I have wasted good money on a product that is useless. I am sorry but I cannot give any positive feedback as I feel I have had nothing for my money. I will be reporting this to eBay & PayPal and the device is going to be thrown away. It is not worth posting it back as the costs will be greater than the product I bought.

The only solution to this would be a new player but I am not going to pay for another device.

I would like to work this out, somehow, with you before I proceed any further.

Thank you.
Gemini
So we will see what happens ... I'll keep you guys posted ...

cheers,
Gem

Greetings...

I have a player that looks exactly like that only it was sold to me as a 2GB but only holds 256MB. So what you need to do is short out the pins again. This should keep it from rebooting hopefully. Then start the recovery process again. Chances are you have a chip that takes the 9.0.50 firmware so you may not be able to get it up and runnnig with that firmware until someone makes a tool that will extract it without killing it.

I got mine to work using the full 3.5.35 firmware. then I used a 3.5.37 bin file that brought it back to life. But when I got it to come back to life it only had 256MB. Nice huh?

You pretty much need to keep trying it over until you either fix it or throw it in the trash!!

Cheers!!

Hi there,

Well the problem is that I have done the shorting out of the pins, to death ... I can get it to a stable state so that it says USB device unrecognized but I can't get the thing to pop up as a USB flash drive ... it just WONT take the AdufUpdate.inf file AT ALL (XP driver signing is turned off) ... I'm a PC engineer by trade so I know how to get Windows to recognize unknown devices, etc ... if they work in the first place

How do u update (or start the recovery process) if windows wont recognize the unit in the first place ... you can't as it doesn't know where the device is ...

I think It's just gone to pot ... something else has died ...

cheers,
Gem
