Mp3 dead, storage alive!! HELP!!
 

Hi everybody! I'm searching for a solution...This 1 Gb Mp3 Player doesn't want to work! I connect it to my computer and all the USB-storage functions work fine, but when i disconnect it everything dies. When it stands alone it's impossible to turn it on...the display doesn't give a sing of life.

The model is a "spirit duo Mp3 player", build (now?) by Spirit (anyone knows it?) and previously by PackardB...As you can see below it seems to have many feautures in common with a famous model sold now by PB.
I've tried to search a new firmware on the official site but (even if it's impossible to download anything...) the one I got pre-installed is still the last one avaible...and there's no previous firmware to try.

the firmware inside is the 2.600.100 version...I've just tried to put the 2.600.600 I've found in the download section, but something seems not to work...or probably I'm not able to do it correctly!

I hope someone can/want help me...are many days I'm tryng solving this problem!

RedFox , likely the internal battery is dead or damaged. i'll suggest you contact your seller for an exchange.

Thanks for your reply but the player it's not properly a new model...so it works with an AAA battery. I' ve changed and tested it but it seems not to be the problem. Maybe it's an internal electrical problem connected to the battery...but how can I discovered it?

I've red in the site that SigmaTel chipset are very hard to revitalize...but I would like to try! I think the problem sets there...in PackardB forum many users had the same trouble of mine with the similar model (Audio Twin) after upgrading to the same firmware I got, and the answer to their questions was to keep the player back to shop in warranty. But I didn't buy it a shop...

Any idea upon the chipset?

RedFox , i'll suggest that you go to s1mp3.org, as they deal more with pen-styled players.

As you mentioned, Sigmatel players are extremely hard to recover if you accidentally brick it.

It could be an internal circuitry problem as you could use it when plugged into the USB, but not when you unplug it.
