Can not power up if unpluged
Hi all :)
I have offered a 2GO generic MP4 for my son baptism :D Bought on ebay --> HERE <-- Unfortunately, After it run fine during Approx. One hour, the battery ran off and we tried to recharge it. Windows since recognize the MP4 when USB plugged and the battery icon shows with charging animation (its the same either with button positionned off or on) When USB plugged we can do everithing: navigate in the menu, moving file from PC to MP4 etc. All the buttons are OK. BUT after several hour of charge, when we unplug the MP4 we cannot start it. It seems to be a dead battery ? (its new) Or a firmware bug ? Anyone know how to fix that ? Especially I think a reset but I dont know how to do without doiing the radical solution consisting in erasing all and reinstall a fimware) My MP4 says (in firmware menu) LG MP3 PLAYER HX 8822A TFT 60005 2007/03/09 ACT_ V9.0.50 I have unscrewed the cover and try to look for a reset pin or jumper inside but.. no. I thought unsolder the battery but in this case the warranty may be void ! So I dont do that. The chip inside is TJ2093H Anybody can help ? My little son is very sad . Thanks in advance for him! :D Hi from France to everybody in the world (except idiots  )! |
Hum... I just tested another time ton charge but the battery remain cold.
Charged accus are usually worm when charging or just charged no ? |

You can say intantaneously in fact. Because just after several hour charging, right after unplug the mpX, it remain cold and just cannot be started. |
jihell, Most lithium polymer batteries have a tiny built in charge control chip yours may well be faulty, you could try replacing the battery but the problem is then finding one that will fit, or speak to the seller re a replacement.

It may be a faulty battery yes. This was the first thing I thought. But I was looking to see if in this great community others member experimented the same problem and found other cause (firmware problem or manipulation to do like a soft reset ... ecc...) In fact, I just sent back the MPX to my vendor. It seems to be a solid and pro Ebay seller. He answer me very quickly and ask me to send back the MPX. Its a very pro attitude that is very appréciable. ( Thats done. The MPX has been sent back to him. I will tell tou and the community the result of this RMA :) . Sorry for my poor english  ) |
Re: Can not power up if unpluged
Did you let the battery completely run out?
If so, there is a solution. Don't use the computer, use your supplied charger. My mp4 came with one which has tho LEDs, one red that indicates proper conection to electricity network and another green which indicates mp4 charging. However, I know some chargers that have only one LED, and it will change color from red to green. The colors have the same meaning, and the green color problem is the same. So, here is what you have to do: 1. Plug the charger to any wall outlet, and make sure the red light will turn on (or the LED will turn red). 2. Turn on your mp4, It doesn't matter if it will not power on. 3. Plug the mp4 to the charger using the cable. Soon you will see the Conection screen and the charging animation. You will notice that the green light will turn on (or the led will tunr green on the second case). The problem is that as soon as the mp4 screen blacks out (for power saving) YOU WILL NOTICE THE GREEN LIGHT TURNS OFF or goes very opaque. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN, as this is the reason your mp4 will not charge!!! If the screen goes black and the green light fail, unplug evetything and start over again. 4. On Conection screen and BEFORE the screen goes black press M key to go to Main Menu (the green led will turn off, ignore it). Then, enter any function you wish. I found FM radio will do the best, but however you can try playing music. Do not use movies. Notice this time that when the screen goes black THE GREEN LED WILL TURN ON!! :D. Don't let the screen turn on again...DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING OR YOU WILL HAVE TO STAR OVER AGAIN!! 5. Let the player gently rest, without pressing anyting, charging peacefully. Now walk outside, rent a movie, buy some pop corn and wait about two hours for your player to be ready. Watch every time to time that the green light is still turned on and shining strongly (without touching anything...remember that as long as the screen is black the player will charge). 6. After ablut twho hours the green light will turn itself off. This is good, it means your player did charge. Now unplug it and test it. Mine had the same problem and was rescued this way. From now on, you yill not need this special procedure to charce it anymnore. 7. Remember, DON'T let the battery dry out completely. This is why this problem happens. As soon as your battery status shows you the battery is empty, charge it. Notice also that you will have perhaps to play a little for this to work. Try several times if you do not succed the first time. The problem state is green light turning OFF when screen goes black, you have to achieve your player to do the opposite: green led turning ON when screen goes black. GOOD LUCK |
I have an ipod nano clone.. and have the same problem.
I tried the steps above but it dosent work for me. When I plug the player into the charger with the power on the player OFF, the green LED blinks BRIGHT then goes off. If I turn the player on, and then plug it in it coms on dim, then the screen goes black and its about equally if not a little more dim. Same thing happens if I go into fm Is my battery over charged, or did I just let it drain and now its dead? |
Re: Can not power up if unpluged
I do not know if the steps will work on most players, since I only tried two that had this problem. It is very tricky to get that green light on, try any combination of things you may think of before giving up. I believe the should be a way to charge the battery.
