Dead player, sparks smoke burning!
Hi, got a dead nano clone, it was working at one point (only for a few days) then no power and no recognition in windows or anything.
This is the info on the chip: SAMSUNG 646 K9LAG08U0M PCB0 FEJG97X2 Started following the dead player guide, got to the part when touching the pins with tweezers and all of a sudden the screen came on and it seemingly came back to life. Was recognized by windows, there were the songs I had loaded onto it before it messed up, was able to access them and play in media player, great I thought, I don't even have to complete the process, for some reason just touching the pins has worked. So I started putting the case back on, as I was carefully getting the on/off switch in the little hole correctly it lost power. Then the weirdness started, when the little plastic switch was not there and I pressed the internal on/off switch, I would only get the three bling sounds from windows that denote an error with a usb device connection. When the little plastic switch was in place over the internal switch, it would switch on ok, light up and everything. I cannot understand why the little plastic switch made it work?! Anyway, everytime I tried to get the case on, the way the case positioned the switch seemed to make the player die again, so I opened it and tried to see if it would turn on ok again, it wouldn't, so I started connecting the pins. This time I noticed sparks when touching certain pins about half way down the chip, they may have been there before, they were small sparks I might not have noticed. But this time when I touched them smoke started to come off from somewhere on the board, not sure where and a harsh burning smell. Even after this, when touching certain pins toward the bottom of the chip the player switched on again and the hourglass loading symbol appeared but when it got fully loaded it would turn off and repeat this over and over. Anyone know what's going on? |
Re: Dead player, sparks smoke burning!
That burning smell was a component frying. Depending on how the circuit is designed, you may have fryed one or more. Needless to say ,it will not work until the faulty components have been replaced.
