HELP! ~ Dead 2GB Rockchip 2.0" Screen
 

Hey, I have a Rockchip player exactly like this one:

It randomly showed up a white screen after leaving it on the USB charger for too long. I read a lot on the forums and found out about jumping the chip to go into recovery mode to update the firmware with Consumer Tools. Well, after trying dozens of .rfw files some work, but not correctly. The closest firmware I found was Ver0.0.6.rfw which was uploaded in this forum. It works perfectly except the button layout is messed up, i.e. when i press the volume button it goes down and the down button goes up. The volume up button makes the volume go down when playing music and NO buttons make the volume go up. Is there any way I can get a clean version of this firmware like it was before? I've literally tried ALL the .rfw files found on this site.

I have the exact same player as this. I lost the screen on my player too.
The firmware I used to get I back has been post on this site already here:-

It is rockchip 00.00.0001 ver by 17.01.2007 and is posted by "puwkin"
I bet you haven't tried this one.
Try to load this into your own version of ConsumerUpdate that came on the Cd with your player, If comsumerUpdate accepts it, then try upload it to your player.
I assume that you are able to get into update mode with your player. Don't short out any pins on the chip if your player still plays music, you can still navigate the menu.
This firmware defaults to Hebrew Language, but there are European languages on it too, you just have to navigate the hebrew menu to select them, English is 3rd from the very top of the list. To select a Language I had to press the play button for some reason. Hope this works for you..

That one gives me a white screen also. My CD came with no consumer update but did come with MP3 player utilities but that does not restore firmware for rockchip flash.

Could I be using the wrong version?

The version of Consumerupdate I used was 2.7.6.
Another firmware which worked for me was the walker.rfw, but it made the screen too bright on my player but at least you could see the menu, you might want to try that.

I can only find 2.61.2, which may be why its not working.

Is 2.7.6 uploaded here?

O.k, I've uploaded the ConsumerUpdate version 2.7.6, that came on the Cd with my player
together with the firmware (2" screen) that I used to recover my player.
It worked for me and my player looks exact like the player in the pic above.

Will it take time to get into the download section? If this works you're definitely getting posted on the most helpful user announcement. :]

Nope, still a white screen. I guess I'll just keep trying different firmwares with this new program and if nothing works it will sit in the bottom of a drawer.

Have you tried the DEC 690 firmware?
I didn't work on my player but your player is different of course so it may be worth a try, on the outside they look the same.
It think it uses ConsumerUpdate v2.61.2.
