Dead Player - Glacier Immitation

I purchased my mp4 player via ebay from a now ex-seller called vrbest0029.
It was advertised as an 8gb MP4 with FM and 2.0" TFT 262K colour display.

It is a hacked player (supposedly 8gb) and it stopped working after two days.

It has the following components:

1. An Actions ATJ2093H processor
2. An SPT SP3767AHN (video chip??)
3. Samsung 719 K9LAG08UOM PCBO 2gb? memory chip

The casing is identical to a Uxcell Glacier

Can anyone have with identical working player provide me with the firmware version for it. I've tried at least a dozen firmwares and so-far have achieved nothing more than a white screen!

Re: Dead Player - Glacier Immitation

Thanks for your help. Your firmware pack did the trick.
It is up and running with ACT2097_S75.

Questions:

1. Does anyone know if there are any better versions of the firmware I'm using?
2. Anyone else find the built in speaker stopped working with this firmware (I could have damaged it when I pulled the player apart 1st time though)?
3. What's the best resolution for photos so they use the full 2" Screen without being unnecessarily large?
4. Is there a trick to getting movies to work (Converted a small mpeg to AMV and player is telling me I have a format error)?

Notes to help others

Here are some things that worked for me along the way to help other newbies with a simmilar player. These things worked for me and as far as I can tell my actions have not damaged the player or my computer (These hints not listed in any particular order):

1. You do not have to pull the player apart to access the memory chip - take the battery out and use a small screwdriver to peel back the heavily glued black plastic under it (I threw the plastic away - I don't see a need for it being there).
2. Use an old Nokia Mobile phone to charge your player battery before you start trying to recover your player (eliminates a dead battery as being a contributing cause to your problem).
3. Plug your earphones into another device, manipulate the cord to ensure they don't have any broken wires (player is sensitive and turns off if there is a poor connection in the earphones)
4. If you need to short the player's memory chip (the largest chip) then use a small screwdriver across the last 5 pins each side and try it at each end (seemed to work for me)
5. You do not always need to short your player's memory to make your computer recognise it (try this first - check power switch is in off position, plug in usb connection and wait up to 30 seconds. If it's still not connecting try removing/re-inserting battery whilst USB cord still connected and turning the player switch on/off.)
6. Make sure you leave player plugged in to computer for around 60seconds after each attempt at upgrading firmware to give it time to reboot the first time.

It took me six weeks to get this player working. This site was invaluable in fixing it. Well done mympxplayer.org

Ah i 'm glad it works now. The speaker is NOT damaged. It happened to me as well . All you have to do is find the firmware in those packs called "DAZED". Those are the only ones that made my player work with the speaker. The one i used was called DaZed_Rev_B or something.

Yes, this is true. I didn't have to short it either.

Good luck.

Hello Horri2110. What is the number printed in the PCB? In my PCB have the number QY-066FV0 2007.05.11. I have tested various firmwares but none function. My MP4 works like a pendrive at the moment. My model is a Glacier immitation too. Thanks.

Re: Dead Player - Glacier Immitation

Malagutti,

Mine is QY-066AV1 (2007.03.20).

The only firmware I can find that works for it is called MP039_firmware_ver2

That firmware can be found in Alex's pack http://mympxplayer.org/firmware-9-v9...res-df602.html

Sorry for the late post. I tried to post a reply a few days ago with a picture of my player's pcb but it did not work.
