I revived it but..

Here's my story.
My cousin gave a MP4 player to me for helping him.
LCD broke. I wanted to buy the other one from my cousin.
I gave him the money. He went over my house to return my money, and gave me keep his mp4 free of charge. I got curious and used a new firmware. The screen turned white. My hands were trembling. I did revive it using the firmware found on the cd from my dead lcd screen one. however. The color display is in 6bit color and there's no sound at all. I tried over and over. same results. All I can do is watching grainy videos with a annoying static noise.

Why not talk to him about this? The truth is allways better... Maybe he knows how to make it work again...

I don't think he knows how to restore it. He got those two players as gifts from his cousin from china. He hardly uses it.

I have two of the same models is there anyway at all I can somehow use my working broken lcd screen one to save my bad firmware one?

Not that any of these things are the same inside, but I opened my rockchip player to verify the memory, and noticed that the screen was not soldered in place, but rather used a press in connector.

If you are comfortable opening the players (maybe start with the dead one, not the broken screen one), you might be able to swap screens.

...then again, maybe not...

Too risky since the screens are mounted in. >.<
Well I'm sure the firmware's bad. The startup is different from the original.
If anybody has a firmware with a similar interface found on your mini disk. Let me know.

Rockchip RK2606A

If anybody can help me. I'll in your debt.
I feel really terrible for breaking both of my cousin's gift. It just burns me up inside.

Re: I revived it but..

Did your Rockchip player have an FM radio on it.? I notice that the screen dump shows a menu with only 8 icons (no FM radio) is that correct?
We need to know this because the firmwares are very different, Rockchip players with no FM radio are rare, but I have found a firmware for one.
Can you show us a picture of the player as well?

Re: I revived it but..

I tried. It gave me the dreaded white screen of doom. ._.
I tried them all. Nothing works.
I give up. Even the 6bit firmware thingy isn't working now. It's making distorted images.
My cousin just gave it to me two days ago. ._.'
