Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Did you try a hardware recovery.
Daremo did and at least got his player into upgrade mode , it did take him about 50 goes though!! http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic.php?p=35813#35813 He had a DEAD USB port as well. Don't bin your player, hang on to your player and have a try sometime  |

Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
I own a Marshal ME29 running on Rockchip, once I tryed to change its firmware, but I found that it would not accept any firmware other than its own, and during this experience my player was dead several time and rescued using the short circuit (hardware method recovery) [I even had the too many bad block error, and even the NAND or FixTool could not recover it and gave me the set flash type error, Once even windows could not detect my device, So the ONLY escape was to use the hardware recover method]. Because the main rock chip is hidden in this model, I am going to explain it step by step to other guys using this device and curious enough to struggle with the firmware.
1. While opening take care cause the speaker is pasted on the cover and might be disconnected from the chip 2. The chip you are to paly with to find the recovery pins is under the sd/mmc reader part of device 3. Connect the device, run the firmware update software load the firmware included in pack CD and keep an eye to the tray 4. With the top and back of the device toward yourself move your mini screwdriver slowly on the pins on the right side of the chip 5. As soon as you saw the save remove ROCKUSB indicator in the tray, prees the update button , FINI Good Luck |

1. While opening take care not to disconnect the speaker attached to the back cover from the chip borad (by the way two holes to screw are hidden under the front screen) 2. Connet the palyer and run the Customer Firmware Update and load the firmware incloded in the pack CD, then keep an eye on the tray 4. The chip to play the recovery method on is under the SD/MMC reader part, put the device with the top and back towards yourself and move your mini-screwdriver slowly on the set of right side pins 5. Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Help much appreciated!
Well, I am in deep dodo I guess ;) Updated my Onda VX858LE with the firmware for VX858. Now the player will not switch off, touchscreen and buttons not working. By resetting the player with the USB cable connected, I can access the flash - If connecting the cable when the player is in its new "idle mode" (can see all icons etc but only the lower left button is registered when pushed, and shows icon as if the player is locked with the on/off button - when left button is pushed!) - I get a Windows message like: USB Device Not Recognized. When I try to run the firmware update again, I get the message: No Rockchip USB device found. I guess it is because I need to set the player into update mode...but as buttons and screen is not working ... I am stuck! Does anyone know of a "soft way" to force it into update mode? Like holding down the M button with USB cable connected and then reset the player...or...is there only the hard way---open and short-circuit the NAND flash :( TIA! |
The soft update option normally needs you to be able to work either the menu or play buttons, but I'm not even sure it will work with the newer "touch" buttons.
Does it look easy to open the player?, some members have had problems opening this type of player and ended up breaking something!. It might be worth trying to disconnect the battery first, this may reboot the player and get your buttons working. Don't hurry to open up your player, these players are delicate inside, maybe another member knows an alternative soft recovery for touch screen. Use hardware recovery as a last resort, the Onda VX858 is a nice player it would be a shame to break it! I hope you can get your player back.. |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
dnul... I do own a Onda VX858.
The VX858 have a key named "MENU", VX858LE have one too, the one is between keys VOLUME + -. With the player OFF press MENU key and hold it while you plug USB cable, keep holding it until your hear the signal from the PC announcing a device have get connected, this should put USB port in secure mode o "ROCKUSB" If this not happen and no signal appears from USB port, then restart the PC, switch OFF the player, and do the procedure again. It should put the player in upgrade mode, device will appear as rockusb, then follow normal procedure installing appropriate firmware. This have to work as both devices (yours and mine) have the same buttons or keys configuration. I bet you aren't doing the procedure with player switched OFF <--- this is really important. |

Try this,
1) Switch the player OFF using the main on/off switch. 2) Hold down the "MENU" button and keep it held down. 3) Connect the usb to the player. 4) Wait for about 10 seconds before releasing the button. 5) You are now in "ROCK USB" upgrade mode! 6) Then just start ConsumerUpdate and upload your working firmware. 7) If this fails then disconnect the USB and repeat from step 2 above using one the other buttons. |

Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
My D-Chord 361 dead after firmware upgrade. Soft recovery not working anyway. I try this step:
1. Main switch to "OFF". 2. Remove board from player. 3. Connect USB to player. 4. Short pins 29 and 30 on Flash chip, player recognized as USB storage. 5. Disconnect player. 6. Hold "PLAY" button and connect USB again. 7. Wait until player recognized as "ROCK USB". 8. Run ConsumerUpdate with the same firmware file from vendor site. Player work! Thanks to all, great site! |
Help please, My MP4 player goes "BLANK WHITE" when I update firmware, when I conect it to PC, Windows XP detect my MP4 player as rockUSB but "consumer update" cant detect my MP4 device (usb device not found). it has 2 removable disk ( flash memory and for miniSD card expendable) but now My MP4 cant detect MiniSD card, must I recover firmware first? (sorry my english is bad).
my MP4 player has 2.4" display, 1 gig + miniSD expendable, only supports AVI movie 320 x 240, 20 fps. the system(GUI) look like this : http://www.mympxplayer.org/album_sho...php?pic_id=512 please help me recover it :( |
My RockChip Chipset is RK2608, where I can download full firmware?

There are now loads of Rockchip firmware ready available for DEAD player recovery only.
If you have a DEAD Rockchip player then check out the number on your PCB, screen and processor RK2602, RK2606 or RK2608 and match it with the firmware list here.:- http://en.s1mp3.net/?action=browse&s...2FRock%20Chinp |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Well, recently i bought and mp4 of the brand Tinch, anyways, the model it was supposed to be the TC-811, as it is written on the MP4, but i was upgrading the firmware and after that, all i get is a blank screen
I realized that in the CD it says TC-816, which is different from my mp4 model.. i looked everywhere for a matching and working firmware, and i havent found it yet, this was the one which came with the CD NP2421NC_MLC_NOFM_1.8.rfw but i tried to recover it with this firm, and i couldnt. So, i tried with a lots of firmwares and different versions of the consumer update program, sometimes i get "this file doesnt match with this tools" sometimes the updating process is successful, but i still dont get anything but a black screen, and finally, i got a firmware, then i push update, and the device reboots, and then starts to update (never seen this before) and then i get an error: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4871/rozy2.th.png I hope you guys can give me an answer, i would really appreciate that. by the way, this is a picture of my device http://www.pccn.com.cn/data/rikifile/File/TC-811.jpg it is a 2,4 inches screen, 1 GB with a card slot, and the chip is RK2608A, but it has not a camera.. i will be really thankful if you can provide me a working firm as well THANKS!! |
Try this consumerUpdate, it accepts most of the firmware types, it's the newest version:-

Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
HI! Recently I bought an mp4 player from a reseller from Greece, named Plaisio, Turbo-X tp2 player. I've found that is exactly like
Teclast C260 A simple image is here: http://image.ec21.com/image/aerospac...MP4_Player.jpg My problem is that I've tried to upgrade the firmware and I upgraded with a different version and now my player is DEAD. Only a white(light gray) screen is seen. For 3 times I reinstalled the firmware but I didn't found the good one. Help me please finding the good firmare and a way to upgrade, because after those tries I cannot anymore get the player in the Upgrade mode. I read almost posts here but I didn't find some useful information to solve my problem. I want to reinstall my old firmware or a new version, doesn't matter, I want to see my player working. Thanks a lot! |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
You need to be in RockUSB mode first.
Double click on the remove hardware icon in your system tray. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...lipboard01.jpg If you are in RockUSB mode you will see the icon in the window like this:- http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...lipboard03.jpg You MUST be in RockUSB mode to change your firmware. To get into RockUSb mode 1) switch the player off. 2) hold down the menu key. 3)connect the USB cable 4) wait a few seconds 5) release the menu key 6) look for the RockUSB icon. 7) If you see the RockUSB icon, load the CORRECT firmware for your player using Consumerupdate program. It this fails then as a last resort I suggest you do the Hard Reset already described to get into RockUSB mode and load the CORRECT firmware for your player using Consumerupdate program. You will need to open your player to do the HARD reset, but only try this if you are confident with opening your player or you might break something! You may find it easier on your player to try shorting the following 2 pins:- http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...ola/dead11.jpg These are the actual pins (posted on a Chinese website) which have also been found to need shorting to get into RockUSB mode, use tweezers or a small jeweller's screwdriver.. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...ola/dead12.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...ola/dead30.jpg This would force the player into RockUSB mode upgrade mode, but you MUST look for the RockUSB icon |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Finally I brought my player in rockusb mode and I upgraded my firmware but it's still not working. I've tried 3 versions of firmware for Teclast C260 and blank screen is still present (I think this is only the backlight without any useful information ==> not working). Even more, now the flash is not seen as a storage device (like a partition).
Is the any chance to save my player or it's not? I still can upgrade software with HW reset but I don't know if it's ok to do that so many times... after some experiments it may be unrecognizable by the computer, meaning flash is burnt. Any idea? Maybe where I could get the good firmware for it? |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Now you know how to get the player into RockUsb mode you still have a good chance to get your player back.
Have you tried this firmware from the omega v88? This is a Teclast c260 copy like your player. http://media.uxcell.com/uxcell/image...mp088_ux_m.jpg http://www.mympxplayer.org/firmware-...lst-df739.html Don't worry about killing the memory, you can't use it anyway, right?. You just need to try only firmwares from players that look like yours and that have touch controls. If you have to open the player get the pcb number and the number from the display there may be a firmware you can use on http://www.s1fw.com/ your player uses only firmwares for rockchip RK2608A with touch controls. |
BTW, if your plaeyer has screws on the sides than it is not a teclast player at all and will not work with teclast firmwares, try what knob has suggested with the v88 firmware as this also has screws on the side and is a copy of the teclast design
|
It's a bit of a long shot but if the v88 doesn't work then it might be worth trying this:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...eme-df826.html It's a Rockchip 2608 player with touch controls like your player. but i'm not sure if the button arrangement would work for you.. http://www.mympxplayer.org/pafiledb/.../mp3-V500X.jpg |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Thanks guys. My player is deadliest than a dead player could be. I've tried all solutions found here, all firmwares that were took from same models of players like mine, but that didn't helped me. It's over:D My mistake that I didn't backed up my firmware, but it couldn't be like that if the consumer update software had the option to backup the firmware.
Thank you for your time. I've learned the lesson:D |
Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
For others: don't do it:D
Details of my player: Chipset: RockChip 2608a RAM: hynix 747A HY57V64162OFTP Board ID: YW R 2007/12/20 MP4-962FR-v1.0 I didn't found the board id on www.s1fw.com Now, even a HW reset couldn't bring my player in Rockusb mode :D |
sometimes umping onto another computer may allow you to start up the player again with the hardware reset, i know i had this once where my player would not do it anymore on my laptop, switched to my pc and i was able to connect again .. after that the player died ... erm, not much help that was it!!!!

Re: Rockchip DEAD Player Recovery Guide
Hi everyone.
I have a 2.8'' Touch Screen MP4 player. Yesterday I tried a firmware update, but i choose the wrong firmware here and my player turns to white when in turned on. Today I saw this guide, and I tried everything. First of all, i tried the soft recovery but any of the 3 buttons worked. So i tried the hard recovery method. My PC recognized the rockchip usb device, and I make a new update using my old firmware, taken from the original CD. But after that, when I turned on, my MP4 started to display all white screen, after all back, all white, all black.... then I started again with the hard recovery and after another update, my MP4 can't work anymore. Even my PC don't recognize now, and player's screen didn't turned on anymore. Anyone know whats happen with my player? I damaged the Flash memory? There are something I can do? I hope anyone can help me. And excuse my english. |
