Semi-Dead MP3 player

Hello.

I have an S1 MP3 Player that looks like this.

I had the battery removed for some days, and when I inserted it today, it freezed on "Starting...".
I tried different batteries but it didn't help.

When I connect the mp3 player to my computer (with or without the battery) the mp3 player is recognized as "USB Device" (neither as "USB Mass Storage" or "ADFU"). I also tried to connect it on another computer but it's still recognized as "USB Device". The mp3 player was still saying "Starting..." on the screen.

I haven't done any hardware/software changes recently, so I don't know why it's not working anymore...

My MP3 player was semi-branded (the firmware wasn't branded. It just says "Crypto" and the model of the mp3 player on the mp3 player).
I don't have the board ID ATM, but I guess that I can find it.

Is ADFU recovery the only way to go?

Thanks :)

Most likely yes. I had one of those pieces of crap, and first the joystick broke, then the earphone jack, and finally the USB port.

I did customize it without any issues though. Anyway, ADFU mode to go!
