Hanging 8GB Mp4 player
Hi Everyone,
I bought an 8GB MP4 player from eBay last week. When it arrived a week later, I upload a few mp3s on it. I played it at work for a little more than one hour when the player turned off. When I turn it back on, all I get is the hourglass. Nothing happens. The hourglass stays until the battery go dead. Recharging the battery shows the same thing. I connect it to my computer which recognize it as a USB device but failed to install the drivers. When I first got it, it is recognized as a Mass storage device right away. Here's a link to the auction of the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ME:X:RTQ:US:11 I have to say I absolutely love this player. It's small and fits snugly in my hand. Does anyone have a similar items or know how to fix this problem? I tried the dead player recovery and keep on shorting out the unit but got stuck on the adfuupdate.inf file... I couldn't find it, not in the windows directory or the cd that comes along with the unit. Even if I go beyond that, I don't know which firmware to use as most of the pictures show a different player for their firmware versions. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. |
It was most likely hacked and not true 8GB. As about the AdfuUpdate.inf file, you can find it in the download section, it's included in the latest version of the Product tool.
Hope you'll be able to recover your player! |
Th3_uN1Qu3 is right about the player being hacked. I recommend you follow the instructions posted here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

Re: Hanging 8GB Mp4 player
Thank you Th3 and Booboo. I found the AdfuUpdate.inf file after installing the software that comes along with the player. Before I did not do that since I didn't need it.
I followed the instruction to format the player and it went down to 2GB, the true physical memory (I'm glad it wasn't 1GB!) and can be seen as a mass storage device. I was not able to get the music functionality to work as some of the firmware I tried results in blank screens, the LCD did not even turn on. Would anyone by any chance know of a firmware that would work with this hacked unit? I would like it to be more than a very expensive and extremely slow USB memory device :-) Here's a picture of the device: http://www.smallgallery.com/others/mp4player.jpg Thank you, -Ben |

Try the firmwares from this page. This is a complete resource for Glacier like MP4 players. It was recommended to me by another thread and I will try it when I get home tonight. http://www.mympxplayer.org/glacier-r...evc-df621.html Let me know how it goes for you. I will do likewise. Good luck! Warmest regards, -Ben (aka Gnimble) |
Re: Hanging 8GB Mp4 player
none of those firmwares work, with 1 or 2 the screen remains off (not white) but no one make the player work
|
Sadly, none of those would make mine work too. I think I'm going to give up at this point. I've tried numerous firmwares and it is taking too much time.
Warmset regards, -Ben |
