USB connection screen appears for few second

I have a 2gb s1 mp4 player having F/W 3.5.7.It used to work absolutely fine till i started facing this problem:
When i connect my player via USB, it is not at all detected on my PC; However it's not dead coz it starts normally with the hourglass followed by the startup screens & then the USB connection screen appears for only a second & proceeds to the menu.It is also not getting charged via USB.So i cannot transfer music/etc.Plz help

I think the battery connections got broken somehow, or the battery is dead.

Pop it open and check the connections, if they are broken re-solder them, else get a replacement battery.

Can you use your player normally when UNPLUGGED from your PC?

It could be the USB cable or the USB connector on your player that might also be the problem. If you can find a spare USB cable, try that or try different USB ports on your computer too.

Also, try connecting your player into another computer as well to see if that helps.
