help with 2"8TFT screen chinese player
 

I bought this player from china :

It worked perfect for 2 days, then refused to startup (it freezes after beginning of startup animation)
The only way I cab get it to work is connect it to computer via USB, then disconnect it & then it is in view mode.
I have nothing on CD that came with it except programs to convert AVI files.
the firmware indicated is 00 01 0008 date 2007 05-11
if I look at it with explorer & properties it says RockChip.
What can I do?

Are you able to get a replacement for your new player?
I guess it could be a problem if it came from China.

If not you could try disconnecting the battery completely and leave it off for a bit (1 hour or so ) to make sure the player is powered down, then reconnect and try it again.
Opening up some of these players can be difficult to get at the battery, but still less risky than flashing the firmware, if you can open the player check for bad connections and resolder if you are able to do so.

Problem with reflashing the firmware is finding the right one - very difficult with Rockchip players, you would probably loose your player all together, you also need to download ConsumerUpdate if you don't have it on the cd

If you find your player is unbearable to use, and you want to try firmwares only use ones for 320x240 screen sizes that look the most like your player, but there is a 80% to 90% that you can't find the right firmware and the screen will go blank.

No I can't seem to send the player back! I bought it on ebay & the seller doesn't answer any emails :(
Ok I'll try opening it & disconnect the battery.
I tried Consume.exe & it doesn't seem to recognise the player :cry: .
I'll keep you posted about any progress...
