8GB or 1GB?
well... damn...
i got a hynix KOR hy27ut088g2m tpcb 721aa im assuming that it has the Action firmware... it has 9.1.52 2007/1/12 actu_sdk what does it mean on this page when it says HY27UH088G2M = 8Gb (GigaBit) = 1024MB (MegaByte) does that mean i only have 8 gigs of space? or 1 gig? and there is a dual online mode? that has ONE gig to it??? what does this all mean??? well... i have about 1000 mp3 uploaded to it... it only lists having 3 directories and it plays like half of the MP3 that are on it... most are corrupt... Ideas? oh... and it looks like this... http://i20.ebayimg.ebay.in/06/i/000/ae/6d/9dc6_2.JPG Oh.. and i like this site... Very much... hope it works out well here ! i have been reading alot around here... lots of info... thanks! oh and im not sure where i saw it but someone that has the same player said they tried 50! different firmwares and none worked... as i figure get the thumbs up from you all... and i would be good... right? thanks all |
well after playing with it a little i have formated the player... and it was strange...
when using windows it reported that there were 2 folders for the same thing... and the only way to delete anything on the player is to reformat the player... suggestions? |
mathomas3, If your players memory chip is a Hynix HY27UT088G2M then it's true capacity is 1GB not 8GB. The memory chip has been altered (hacked) so that it reads larger than it's true size. The reason you are getting corrupted files etc is because files loaded over the true 1GB size of your chip are being written to memory that does not really exist and are basically just ghost or index files.
The best thing you can do is return the memory to its true capacity otherwise eventually the player will crash and becoem unusable. You will only end up with 1GB of storage but your player should function wiothout any problems. There is a guide here on how to remove the hack. http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html |
Re: Im new... Go easy...
Maybe we are too obsessed with hacking stuff.
This is the technical description of the memory by Hynix: HY27UH088G(2/D)M Series 8Gbit (1Gx8bit) NAND Flash Too obscure and tricky for a common mortal... this allows some vendors to say is a 8G (which is true, but of bits :) ) then if each byte requires 8 bits then is 8G / 8 = 1G of usable storage. No need of format or do any other operation. If is capable of store the music you said... just enjoy it! |
Re: Im new... Go easy...
well damn~!~
so i have a $56 1 gig player... Bla... that 8 gigs sounds SOOO much better! |

DaremoS:
While I agree that some folks do pull out the scam or hack cards quickly in these parts, the poster did say: Quote:
True, the seller did use an 8Gbit chip in the hopes that that would stand up as truth, he labled it 8GB in the ad, not 8Gb. So at the least he was not terribly accurate. |
mathomas3,
Can you send us details of who the eBay seller is that you bought it from? Definately have to make sure everyone is made aware of this scammer. |
DaremoS , the actual chip is 8Gigabits (1GigaByte). If the computer reads it as 1GB, then it's OK and no format would be needed.
However, the computer reads it as 8GigaBytes (64Gigabits). Well, assuming 4MB for each music file, 1000 files would mean 4GB. So the assumption of the computer reading the player as 8GB is valid. In this case, the chip has been hacked, and a format is needed. |
