1GB MP3 Player shuffle cannot detect
Hello,
I'm new to this forum... I have a 1GB MP3 Player shuffle (fake one) And i can't get my pc to detect it. Connect via USB. My computer does not show anything, even in device manager. Please guys, I need your help in fixing this. Been trying to fix this for 2 months now... Also it won't play or anything... I've read the dead player recovery guide but it is for a different player... Please help... Thanks... Here's what the MP3 player looks like. |
Modikai , likely the player is dead. You'll need to open the player to identify the processor's serial number first.
|
How to open it? There's no screw...
|
You have to put the screws out and look inside your played hardware understood ? ^^
|
Modikai , i'm not very sure how to open the shuffle clone. Check around the buttons/switches area for any removable sticker or plastic cover, as sometimes the screws are hidden below it.
Else, the player probably is held together with plastic clips/latches that you'll need to pry it open. Take care in opening it, as it is easy to break or scratch the player whilst doing so. |
Re: 1GB MP3 Player shuffle cannot detect
This player is probably not an Actions chipset.
All of our Actions solutions have a screen. |
Ok, I'll try opening it... Inform you when i'm done...
|
Me again... I'm unable to open up the player. Is there any reset procedure I should do?
|
Modikai , i've not encountered recovering a shuffle clone. But typically these players needs to be opened, and have the memory chip shorted to reboot the player. i'm unaware of any reseting via external buttons.
|
ok, here's what i did. Unscrew, took off the hinge snap, then, nothing... can't slide it out... Unless I break it, there is no way to open it... Any ideas?
Now I've lost the hinge snap.. damn.. it just bounce off... I can't format it if the pc can't detect. There is no way to open it, unless break it. |
They are sure tricky to open , but its entirley possible , What you have to do is:
The white plastic surrounding the headphone jack is just stuck on there. Grab a knife and put it into the lip next to the headphone jack and try to lift up the white plastic , its just like a sticker , once removed it reveals two screws , remove the screws and slide it out by pushing the pcb and battery , the buttons should just drop down a bit and slide out aswell , from they i think you must lift the battery to reveal the chip number. |
Thanks lite, i'll try that...
One question, izzit STILL possible to revive this dead player? |
Modikai , it is not possible to know yet at this stage as we do not know the type of processor used in the player. You need to get it opened to identify the processor first.
|
Tried it. No good. It seems, the one you open is a different model. I try to lift up the white plastic surrounding the headphone jack, but it look like its connected to the white plastic on the other side. It won't move because the button is in the way.
|
Modikai , try depressing all the buttons down and slide the casing out.
|
The button won't go all the way down under the casing.
|
Re: 1GB MP3 Player shuffle cannot detect
It is likely not Actions chipset, cannot recover.
|
So is there no way to revive it then?
|
Modikai , if you can't open up the player, it is very difficult to determine what chipset your player is using. Besides, most recovery stages require the chip to be shorted, if you can't access the chip, it is near to impossible to recover it.
|
I swear the little plastic sheet comes off the headphone jack and that is how you open it .......
Il works very simliar to this : http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPo...-1/Disassembly Exspet when you remove the plastic white cover you reveal two screws on a white base. it still pulls out the same. |
Re: 1GB MP3 Player shuffle cannot detect
These small player design will not use microcontroller, just a ASIC which does not have modifiable firmware.
|
Lite,
The one that I have look similar to the one that you show, but when i tried to open it like that, the white plastic is actually connected to the white plastic on the other side. I cannot slide it out, as the button are in the way, If i force it, it'll break... Any other way? |
OKay, i got it open.
Had to make a little "adjustment" to the white plastic thing. underneath the battery, looks like the processor, all it says is, ALI m5667 A1 0644 TG07 X169B08000GC |
Re: 1GB MP3 Player shuffle cannot detect
I say already, this is not Actions chipset, is Acer Lab Inc (ALI) M5667.

Sorry lolita,
I don't understand chinese, so how to fix this player then? |
Is there anybody that could help?
I've already open up the player? Now what? Anybody? lite? lattesurf? |
Re: 1GB MP3 Player shuffle cannot detect
Buy new player.
|
Hahaha, funny,
Seriously, is there anyway to fix it? lattesurf mention it needs to shorten the chip, how to do it? |

HI Modikai I also have a dead shufle2Gb... batterry is leaking.. and before that had the same problem... yes you can find the little screws... its under the plastic cover there are 2 plastic covers each side ,everthing is really tiny!!! |
Modikai , i could not find any Ali chipset related firmwares on the net. Even if you do manage to get the player to be recognised by your computer, without a compatible firmware, your player still could not function.
i'll suggest that you contact your seller for an exchange if it is still under warranty. |
I bought it at a local online auction site. Already asked for exchange but the seller refuse. Been having dispute with the seller ever since.
I appreciate the help guys. Thanks to everyone that tried to help. |
Thanks to anyone who tried to help...
