Default Player probably dead. But not totally.

Hi i'm new here and read quite a lot of posts, so I decided to register and post something for myself and be heard.

Anyways. Im kind of confused whether my player is dead or not.
But I presume it's dead since i posted it here. ^_^

Ok here's the activity before it stopped responding.

I was planning to have a new set of songs for my player.
So what I did, I cleared all the contents of the player using the explorer.
I placed my new set of songs in the USB Drive.
I removed it from the USB Connection and turned it on back.
Upon restarting the device, it just displays a blank screen.
I suspected I deleted some vital files that may be needed to run it.

I tried to recover it using the utilities and upgraded the FW.
Some FW's failed and I tried the identical S1 5.37 FW a message told me the process was a success.
It resulted to become a totally dead, non-respondent player.
So I follow exactly the procedures on the post stickied on top.
It returned to it's previous state as a Mass Storage Device but still no activity.

Here is my player's pic:

My wild guess tells me that aside from installing the firmware there might be a file that I may copy on my player's storage so it will run properly again. Something like an .exe file that my player can execute on it's native environment. Ahmm... just my guess. What do you think?

Players stats:

Brand: SONY (fake) MP4 Player
Format: basically MP3, AMV, WAV
Memory: 256MB

KyoKusanagi , was the previous working firmware v3.5.37?

If that's the case, then your player could be compatible for v3.5.35 or v3.5.37. Which can be found:
v3.5.35 http://www.mympxplayer.org/actions-3535-dc15.html
v3.5.37 http://www.mympxplayer.org/actions-3537-dc16.html

You'll need to try all the firmwares for your screen size (1.5" in this case) until you get one working fully with your player.

The Success message shown on the Upgrade Tool only tells you that the firmware has been successfully flashed into the player. It does not tell whether it is compatible with your player or not.

You don't need any other external files for the player operate, besides the firmware file.

Your reply is much appreciated, lattesurf!

I'm not really sure but it was probably 3.5.37.

After hunting various FW's on your given links and others in this forum that might help as well, i've stumbled upon a possible cure to my player.

All of them may have the same version but a certain FW will only work on my player.

The key is, s1res.exe utility. I've downloaded all the FW both of 3.5.37 and .35 and I opened 'em one by one and checked the UI of each. And Finally I found the one with the same UI as my previous working FW.

BTW, I will be updating this post regarding my success. ^_^ Hope this will be it.

Again, thank you lattesurf for the reply. I think I've downloaded almost all the dumps on your links. Ahaha...

KyoKusanagi , the problem with these manufacturers are that they do not practice proper versions control. As cheaper hardware components are found, they change the hardware and change the firmware to suit it. But they do not update the version number.

So most cases even if the GUI looks the same, and the version number looks the same too, it might not be compatible. Just try all of them and hopefully you get it working with one of them.

Good luck.
