I think you've hit the nail on the head there.

I have exact the same Rockchip player also bought from ebuyer in May,which copies files over fine but i have had the same problem with another (old) player that did not support USB 2.

I guess you may need to set your USB to Hi-speed 480Mbps and not Full-Speed which is only USb1.1 (12Mbps) in your PC bios setup.

I think it unlikely that the players were faulty.

I'm afraid it's 'dumb question' time - I believe my machine uses USB 2 (it's an Acer less than 18 months old) but how can I check? I've tried device manager but can't find anything that says if it's USB 1 or 2.

I'll try the BIOS for speed settings as suggested tonight to see if that affects anything.
