White screen, need firmware help ACU7513

I have read and followed the dead player recovery guide, my mp3 had just hourglass, so I upgraded firmware to 9.0.5 and all went wrong, just an occasional flashing white screen, oh dear.

It is the same as PUSHPLAY DIGITAL-STAR TRACK (in gallery)

I have tried mp3 update tool and had problem detecting mp3, was listing as mass storage device, sorted that out by shorting chip (as per guide) now showing as USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU device but not listed in explorer as drive and showing as 3.0.0.0 (perhaps windows driver).

Unable to find what firmware, tried 9.3.5, 9.4.8, 9.5.0 & 9.5.1 none get rid of the white screen.
Little chip is ACU7513 & big chip (smaller writing so maybe error) FBAL 4188GK3PG.

Would appreciate any help to get working, was bought as 8Gb, but obviously now formatted is a 1 Gb.

Thanks
Stevie1

Hi amsecure, what I had before pin work was a flashing white screen and no way to switch it on or off, still not much better, just a white screen that I can't switch off or on..

Re: White screen, need firmware help ACU7513

hi stevie i did the pin work and it reset the screen and turned on and off, that was all,i have the firmware and correct version it loads but nothing changes,i am actaully an internet shop dealing with the manufacturer and they are chinese so there is slow responses from them, basically they will blame you for everything at first, great when i think im a buyer so imagine the customer at the other end.

anyway they have accepted that it is faulty and seems none repairable so are taking it back, wjat i was doing was messing around with it so i would have support for my customers if they had similar issues i was hoping that i would sort them out rather than send units back to china. nobody seems to be able to get this right for some reason and the lisong site is terrible with lttle or no help for the players.

so any other ideas

stevie1 & amsecure , the problem with these players are the version numbers are not reliable. Manufacturers change firmware coding as the hardware changes (perhaps weekly or daily). However, they do not have proper versions control, so even if the version number looks exactly the same, chances are it is likely to be different.

In stevie1's case, now that the player is recognised as an ADFU device but no drive appears for the player. You'll need to flash in a compatible firmware first before the drive would appear. You would be needing the v9.xx firmwares here http://www.mympxplayer.org/actions-9...ware-dc37.html
As there is no way to tell which firmware would work properly with your player, you'll need to try all of them. However, do note that the trial & error method might brick your player and you might need to repeat the shorting process again.

For amsecure, keep repeating the shorting process until the player "reboots" and get detected by the computer. Once done, install ADFU and follow the same steps as above.

Hi lattesurf,i forgot to mention,my pc see's the player as a drive,so this hasnt been a problem.i can access it as a drive with no problems, basically now it just has the white screen with out the menu's have done the reflashing many times and tried the pin shorting etc but still the same.any other advice would be great, thanks amsecure

amsecure , the problem is due to the firmware extraction tool currently only supports upto v9.0.43, so others with working v9.0.48, v9.0.50, v9.1.50 are unable to dump their firmware for you to try.

lattesurf,

so what do you think i might be able to do now,the fact im and agent and having trouble with the supplier is not great.its true 2gb not hacked which is a bonus.
my supplier is a bit on the dim side of things and takes 4ever 2 sort out stuff so this is why im trying myself,i cant scrap the supplier yet as i have 20,000usd worth of stock and need to keep him in place for warranty.

if you can think of anything i would be greatful, basically i wanted to be able to supply a service to my customers if something happened with a big delay and returning goods to china and so on.

he has said to return it but i just wanted to see if i could sort it myself as knowledge is a great asset.

thanks for the advice and anything you night on the topic.

amsecure , when it comes to firmware for these newer v9.xx players, there really isin't any solution. Without the tools being developed, you're really stuck in a corner and have no choice but to try 1 firmware after another.
Or you can ask your supplier for the firmware, they would like be able to get it from their manufacturer. Considering you have so much stock order with them, a firmware file isin't asking for much.

If you're re-selling these players, what i can suggest is to inform your customers not to flash the firmware as it is extremely difficult to recover.

Re: White screen, need firmware help ACU7513

lattesurf,

you would think it would be that easy, the thing with the chinese is everything is an ordeal and it takes about 50 emails before they deliver, the gas thing is their on the ball when your ordering from them and they see that there's money in the pipe line.

i have held off with my orders from this supplier untill i get the requested firmware,he sugests to send it back but that still doesnt solve my situation for the future.

I would love to cut this company out altogether but im stuck due to the warranty issues so dont want too mess that up or im rightly buggered.anyway il keep trying and if i find the cure i will pass it on to you guys, again many thanks for the quick response its a pleasure to converse with you.

take care amsecure,oh by the way any idea what would be a good way to promote my store without breaking the rules. thats if its allowed.i havent mentioned its name as im unsure of your rules etc.

regards amsecure
