Dead ATJ2051H

well i have an s1 mp3 player with a board ATJ2051H, and a a Flash HY27UF081G2M
1st of all it had that memory error and i had only 108mb of storage, so i tried hopelessly to change the FW, without knowing it might not be even the firmware's issue, and then after a long struggle i failed to achieve anything..
mainly what brought it down was that i tried to install all possible firmware's i found and i failed, till i realized i had to find a full firmware version, so i read in here trying to locate a working firmware, and i found another topic about a dead player, but an mp4, and i noticed that after i downloaded the firmware and upgraded btw, so the thing is, my player shows a blue screen with a yellow bar on top of the screen, and thats all, and the size is still 108 mb though its supposed to be more, so i wish i can get some help recovering it back

thats the firmware that brought my player to the ground
i can post screen shots if requiered btw, oh and thx for the great site, and thx in advance for any1 who might be willing to help ^^

Danielle , the Hynix HY27UF081G2M is a 1Gigabit (128MegaByte) memory chip. So really your player only had a 128MB chip installed, the rest were just hacked memory. That's why it caused the format errors you experienced.

What i can suggest is to continue trying all the v3.xx firmwares until you get one compatible.

oki while trying to use one of the 3.xxx firmware, i got the player more screwed up, i get a dead black screen now, dead black nothing at all as if its not working, and its not even showing the drive in the explorer, it was one in the 3.0.xx firmwares, so now i cant go on updating coz i get "device not detected" message in the updater and i cant see the drive, what should i do now?

Danielle , in this case, you'll need to perform a Dead Player Recovery, the guide is here http://www.mympxplayer.org/dead-play...ide-vt567.html

Once it's recognised again, continue from where you left off.

Re: Dead ATJ2051H

just want to ask an inocent question, if the firmware is not in your list, then i should start gathering money to buy a new player, right? :P

actually this is not the problem now, well i cant install the driver for the player, i gone through the pin conectivity thing twice, 1st time i had an unidentified usb device, so i started going through the guide till i got to the part needing the AdfuUpdate.inf and then i got stuck i have the file, but its not workin everytime i choose it i get an error saying "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware" that was when i connected the left and the right side pins of the player's chip "the one with the ATJ2051H", and when i tried connected the upper and lower pins i get freaky chopy kind of electric sound so i stop it, and when i tried with the other chip, the storage one with the lable "HY27UF081G2M" i got a usb device detected and a hardware installation screen, and when i went through i found it asking for a totally another file called "$winnt$.inf" which was located in my windows folder, but still when i chose it i got the same early error "the specified location odes not contain information about your hardware", so is there any thing i should start doing?, i can post you screen shots of the player if u need so... so just let me know if theres anything i can do ^^, and thx again for the great effort....

i wont keep trying for the moment coz im afraid my ignorance can lead to more dead stuff in the player ^^

Danielle , for the error "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware" during the ADFU installation, try these:

Plug in your player via USB, it should be detected as an unrecognised device.

Now Right click on My Computer and select Properties.

Select the Hardware tab, and click on Device Manager.

Now locate the player device. Usually it should be with the yellow exclamation mark. Right click on it and select Properties.

Now select the Details tab and in the drop down menu, chose Device Instance ID.

It should display below it something like this:

USB\VID_10D6&PID_xxxx........

What does the 4 xxxx show?

Re: Dead ATJ2051H

this is what's shown :

USB\VID_10D6&PID_FF51\5&7A2EF8F&0&2

now i think u only needed the FF51 part, but i did this just to make sure..
and btw lattesurf, thx alot for your effort, you really dont know how it feels to find some1 that co-operative ^^...thx again

Danielle , now open the ADFUupdate.inf file with notepad.

---
Under the [Version] section, locate this line, your version of ADFU might have different characters, but the steps are the same:

;ClassGUID=1181f4a0-f284-11d2-9068-00609797ea5a}

Remove the semi-colon ( ; ) and add a bracket opening, like this:

ClassGUID={1181f4a0-f284-11d2-9068-00609797ea5a}

---
Now locate the [Upgrade] section, and you should see something like this (again might be different from yours):

[Upgrade]
%USB\VID_10D6&PID_1160.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_8888
%USB\VID_10D6&PID_1160.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51

Add this additional line:

%USB\VID_10D6&PID_FF51.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_FF51

Now save this ADFU file with the correct .inf extension.
Try updating the driver again using this modified version of ADFUupdate.inf, see if now you are able to install it properly.

Re: Dead ATJ2051H

well thx for the help m8 it did work, and though it asked for the &winnt% file, i entered the adjusted ADFU file and it got accepted, but then i had to devices shown, one with the a huge text including FF51, and another one that was something like USB(2.0)ADFU something like that, i chose the 2nd one, and the player wasnt recognized neither by windows nor by the update prog, and now even as i try connecting the pins again, i dont get a usb device detected message...
