MP4 player show hourglass screen only
My MP4 player was working for about 5 hours then it stopped with a no battery screen. I recharged the player over night. What I got now when I switch it on is a blue screen with a hour glass. My Pc can detect it as USB ADFU device but I can't see it on the Window explorer. Can anyone can help me with this problem?

Re: MP4 player show hourglass screen only
Same problem exactly, the player also worked for only a few hours.
1. Not sure how to check for an LCD problem? 2. Not sure how to check for a firmware issue? 3. The player will hold a charge however it is only the blue screen with an hour glass.? Hopeyou can advise |
1.remove the battery and connect to PC. connected=battery problem.
2.resolder LCD's pins, then connect to PC. connected=LCD problem 3.replace quartz crystal (24 or 24.576MHz). 4.re-solder the flash memory's pins(48pins IC) 5.if all not working, then u need firmware upgrade. *make sure remove battery and disconnect PC when doing step 2,3,4. |
Hi Interuptor0, thanks for the reply.
Ok, I have removed the battery from the player and connected it to the pc. I still get the hour glass and blue screen, so I guess that the battery is no good. Can I replace the battery? or is it now no use.? James |
with what u said, that surely not battery problem. try 2nd method.

In my humble opinion you have corrupted firmware. So you need to find a full firmware to reflash to your player. Yes you may have hardware problems but the hour glass says "firmware" to me. YOu need to identify the chip numbers particularly the square one approx 1cm square, the screen size, and see if you can find a match and try reflashing (instructions on this site). Again in my humble opinion there is no point in trying to solder or resolder anything as the geometries are far too small for any equipment you are likely to be able to lay your hands on. Sadly as I also have found out, the hunt for firmware is very frustrating - it is likely to be v timeconsuming & not too likely to end in success (see most of posts on board). |
make all hardware work fine, consider carefully b4 re-install firmware.
