"AdfuUpdate" - provided does not contain the drive
Hey Guys,
I brought a 4GB fake iPod from China. Tried to upgrade the firmware and now its only displaying a blue screen. I followed the tutorial on "Dead Players" but I couldn't finish it. I got to the point where I had to install new hardware, as the player was now being recognised, but it says to click "have disk" then to browse for a file called "AdfuUpdate" But my windows folder looks nothing like that on the tutorial, and i cannot complete the process because the disk provided does not contain the driver. Anything would be great! |
jakebache , go to Control Panel, and click on System.
In it, select the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. Now you should see a list of hardware items connected to your computer. Look for the player, it should be highlighted with a yellow exclamation mark. Right click on it and select Properties. A new box should open. Now select the Details tab and in the drop down box, chose Device Instance Id. What does the box below it display after you selected it? |

CANNOT INSTALL THIS HARDWARE
There was a problem installing this hardware USB 2.0 (FS) ADFU Device An error occurred during the installation of the device The required section was not found in the INF. |
jakebache , i think the problem lies in that your computer registry does not have the ADFU string, which causes the failed installation.
Try going to your Windows Registry to add the ADFU into it. Click Start >> Run Type regedit Click Ok Now in the Registry Editor, browse to the following directory: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SYSTEM >> CurrentControlSet >> Control >> Class Right click on Class and select New >> Key You will notice that a new folder would be created with default filename like New Key #1 Change the "New Key #1" to {1181f4a0-f284-11d2-9068-00609797ea5a} Be sure to include the 2 brackets as above. Once done, you can close Registry Editor, and try updating the driver again using either of both files i've uploaded: http://www.savefile.com/files/1207727 http://www.savefile.com/files/1205168 |
