IPOD Nano fake showing 'Hour Glass' of death

Hi, Ive been reading the forums all day with no luck, it seems there is no fix for this?
I bought a 4GB IPOD nano copy off ebay in August, all well til my wife turned it on and its only showing the Blue screen and an hour glass.

It looks like a 2nd gen ipod nano, any help will be greatly appreciated
