This happened to me too after I the installed wrong firmware. Windows recognized the device as adfu but all future attempts to install any firmware, including firmware that had successfully installed before, were met with 'invalid upgrade firmware file'.
I thought I'd killed mine as it was still shown as adfu device but managed to get it back to upgadeable state by dragging the tweezers down both sides of the chip whilst connected to the pc. I heard the ding-dong noise of the device being unloaded by windows. I was then able to do the trick of bridging contacts on just the one side of the chip whilst connected and windows recognized the adfu device again and I could install firmware again.
Still not found the right firmware though so my player is still just a usb flashdisk ops:

Yes basically I found almost any firmware that will install successfully whilst you're in adfu mode should make the player recognized as a flash drive. You'll probably need to use mp3tools to format the space RAW to it's capacity and then format again in windows to the FAT system.

Hi i have 1.8" 2 gig with the chip you mentioned. I managed to get a dead one to load "Full Version 9.0.50 - 1.8 LCD.bin"
It has FM but my unit doesn't and the videos do not play.
Basically learn how to short the chip while looking at device manager until you see the adfu device or what ever.
Download only files that say 1.8" screen and don't go higher than 9.0.50 as you will get nothing.
I have tried at least 50 files and sort them into failed folders, "white screen" "black screen" "wrong resolution" etc...

I have an identical player that works but cant clone it.
